  • Patent number: 4563822
Abstract: A level device is designed to determine different levelling points in building work to automatically set certain parts, such as the suspension systems for false ceilings when this apparatus is fitted with a bolt-driving attachment, comprising a flexible tube connected to a first chamber closed by a first diaphragm offering very low resistance to the liquid contained, the other end of the tube connected to a second chamber closed by a second diaphragm which second diaphragm offers resistance to the liquid contained and compresses the air contained in the corresponding space whereby in turn this air actuates a diaphragm which has needle-type contact switches, on each side, these circuits to an indicator, with a valve used to locate the apparatus at a point which may be at a higher or lower level than that determined by the first diaphragm.

  • Patent number: 4562883
Abstract: Conditioned air (i.e. cooled or heated air) is supplied to spaces in a building structure via guides and air mains. The conditioned air is guided into the spaces directly from the guides, or via plenum chambers and transfer openings, or via both routes simultaneously. Circulation of conditioned air through the plenum chambers cools/heats the building structure. During a subsequent period when cooled/heated air is demanded for the spaces, air from the spaces is circulated through the plenum chambers via air return openings. Such circulated air is cooled/heated by contact with the building structure and is re-introduced as conditioned air. The building structure thus acts as a reservoir of heat to augment the conditioning effort of the air conditioning means during periods of peak demand.

Abstract: A method of clarifying proteinaceous waste water is provided involving feeding the water through a treatment zone where it is subjected to various treatment steps and from which it issues as a clarified product. Solid impurities are coagulated in said zone and 20-50% by mass of the waste water feed is recirculated as clarified product which is aerated to provide a foam containing less than 10% by volume of liquid, and which is mixed with the feed in or upstream of the treatment zone. Foam rises and floats to the surface of the liquid in the treatment zone from which it, with solids entrapped therein, is removed.

  • Patent number: 4555304
Abstract: The method according to the invention of polishing glass in a polishing bath containing sulfuric acid and hydrofluoric acid permits long polishing times and thus reduced alternating treatments in polishing bath and washing bath at high polishing speed due to the fact that the polishing bath contains at least one acid which is stronger than the hydrofluoric acid, in particular acids whose dissociation constants are higher than that of the second dissociation stage of the sulfuric acid; preferably, oxalic acid is used. In order that the sulfuric acid concentration can be increased--in particular for glasses containing alkaline earth--0.1 to 5 g sodium chloride and/or potassium chloride per liter of polishing bath are added to the polishing bath during an 8-hour shift, either all at once or in portions.

  • Patent number: 4549864
Abstract: A process and apparatus for stacking layers of composite material on moulding equipment comprises a transfer band on which each of two opposed working sections has a surface suction device to hold on it a layer that has been placed in a precise position in register with an outline, projected onto the transfer band by means of neon tubes and a frosted glass plate in a first working station. The band transfers the layer to a second working station where the layer is isolated in a sealed enclosure by means of an inflatable joint carried by a frame facing a peripheral ridge surrounding the moulding equipment. Reduced pressure is produced in the enclosure via a reduced pressure outlet causing the transfer band to be displaced towards the moulding equipment and draping the layer over the latter.
