  • Patent number: 5696215
Abstract: The invention relates to an elastic fluorohydrocarbon resin. This resin is obtained by graft copolymerization of a first segment which is one of fluorine-containing elastomeric and crystalline polymers with a second segment which is the other of these polymers. The first segment is prepared by copolymerizing at least one first unsaturated monomer that has peroxy bond with at least one second fluorine-containing monomer. When the first monomer is dissolved in a first solvent prior to the copolymerization, the copolymerization can be safely conducted with higher yield. This first solvent is selected from a carboxylic ester of t-butanol, methylene chloride, 1,1,1-trichloroethane, and first, second, third and fourth compounds which are respectively represented by R.sup.1 COOR.sup.2, C.sub.2 H.sub.x Cl.sub.y F.sub.z, C.sub.3 H.sub.x Cl.sub.y F.sub.z, and C.sub.4 H.sub.x Cl.sub.y F.sub.z.

  • Patent number: 5692727
Abstract: A supporting member in a conventional seat device is supported only by torsion bar arm portions positioned at right and left sides of the device. Accordingly, when a large biased load acts on the device, a sufficient roll rigidity is not obtained and both arm portions at the right and left sides rotate simultaneously. Interference with the supporting panel, cushion frame or the like may also occur. Accordingly, a seat pad supporting member supported by a cushion frame provided on a floor is elastically supported on at least one of the front and rear portions thereof to a torsion frame by a torsion bar. The torsion bar is latched, at the torsion bar torque bar portion side, to the cushion frame side. The torsion arm portion side, moreover, is latched to the right and left sides. Finally, the torsion bar arm portion, on both sides, is connected to a connecting member.

  • Patent number: 5694249
Abstract: The invention relates to a three-dimensional optical memory element. This element is made of glass and includes: a glass matrix which has a first refractive index; and a plurality of spots which are three-dimensionally distributed in the glass matrix and each of which has a second refractive index different from the first refractive index. The element is prepared by condensing a pulsed laser beam to focal points in the element so as to prepare, at the focal points, the spots corresponding to the focal points. Each focal point has a diameter which is approximately equal to a wavelength of the pulsed laser beam. The element has a sufficient weatherability and a sufficient resistance to heat and light. It is possible to write information at each spot having a diameter equal to or shorter than the wavelength of the laser beam, with high density and good contrast.

  • Patent number: 5690776
Abstract: A belt splicing tool for thermally joining first and second ends of thermoplastic belts. The tool includes a position control means and first and second clamping mechanisms cooperatively engaged and diametrically opposed along a longitudinal axis. The first clamping mechanism holds a first end section of a belt and the second clamping mechanism holds a second end section of a belt. The position control means repositions the clamping mechanisms relative to one another along the longitudinal axis between a first position where the longitudinal spacing between the clamping mechanisms is minimized, and a second position where the longitudinal spacing between the clamping mechanisms is maximized. The tool retains and aligns both belt ends in an opposed abutting relationship while permitting longitudinal movement of the belt ends relative to one another.

  • Patent number: 5689295
Abstract: A printing method is performed with an ink jet print head including a matrix of groups of orifices positioned in parallel rows. Each group has a plurality of orifices which each eject fluid of a different color. The color fluid, e.g. ink, is simultaneously propelled through the orifices of each group selected for printing and onto an information carrier which is stationary in relation to the matrix. The print head has a multilaminate structure with additional layers (20-25) of an underlay (10) equal to the number of print colors. The orifices (BK, Y, R, B) are divided into groups of adjoining orifices with the same number of orifices in each group and with the orifices in each group disposed in a square arrangement. The inlet openings of all orifices which eject fluid of the same color are placed in a single additional layer of the underlay. Feeder channels (26-29) are made in each additional layer of the underlay and cross the orifice openings (11-14) in that layer.

  • Patent number: 5685817
Abstract: An arrangement for scoring continuously transported flat workpieces to be folded along scored lines is composed of scoring tools fastened to shafts that are parallel to each other. One part of the scoring tools features a groove and the other part features a ridge. The groove and the ridge follow a helical path over external cylinders defined by the tools and engage with each other in the contact region of their cover lines. In order to set lengths of the scored lines, a tool part is composed of a package of tightly compact, discoid segments that carry the scoring tools. At least one part of these segments can be retained on the shaft in a manner permitting rotation, and located at different angles, in order to be able to form two scored lines with only one pair of scoring rolls. A cylindrical saucer-type segment forming a second scoring tool is retained on each shaft.

  • Patent number: 5685595
Abstract: A base member is laid in a space portion, which is defined by an instrument panel, in a vehicle width direction over generally an entire width of the vehicle, and a plurality of ducts is integrally formed with the base member. Furthermore, a meter placing portion on which a meter is placed and an air bag placing portion on which an air bag is placed are formed on the base member, and a harness placing portion on which a flat harness is placed is also formed on the base member in the vehicle width direction. Accordingly, the base member with which the plurality of ducts are integrally formed is a separate body from the instrument panel. Even in the case where the size of the instrument panel is changed, the base member is not required to correspond to the instrument panel and, therefore, the ducts can be commonly used. Moreover, since the base member is formed with ducts each having a closed structure in section, it has a predetermined physical strength.
