  • Patent number: 5329751
Abstract: Animal harness, including blankets and straps, provides low pressure internal pneumatic elements to aid in padding harness effect on an animal and in ventilating animal body portions thereunder. A blanket provides an air pervious felt element folded upon itself and sewn to form a plurality of adjacent open-ended pockets, each carrying an inflatable bicycle tire inner tube deformed to fit in a pocket with two side-by-side courses. The felt element is covered by an air pervious fabric cover. A harness strap provides two similar mesh side elements joined about adjacent peripheral edges by banding to define a medial channel. A strap having connectors at each end and a medial cross strap is joined to the outer surface of one mesh side element for strength and to allow fastening to other harness structure. The medial channel defined by the strap carries an inflatable bicycle tire inner tube deformed to an elongate shape.

  • Patent number: 5320257
Abstract: An elongate peripherally defined ampule having a handle-like reservoir structurally communicating with a medial articulating element which interconnects an elongate spout to define an enclosed containment chamber. The ampule is formed of resiliently deformable material to allow dispersement of contents by manual deformation of the ampule structure and to allow accurate placement of expressed contents by manipulation of the articulating element and spout structure. The spout provides a relatively small end portion and an outwardly tapering medial channel for severance at selected positions to provide dispersement orifices of different sizes and shapes. The ampule defines a containment chamber of up to the two cubic centimeter volume range for dispersement of extrudable materials of a fluidic, gelatinous, or powdered nature, and especially for pre-measured single use quantities of chemicals, medicaments and the like. The ampule is preferably formed by molding polymeric or resinous plastic materials.

  • Patent number: 5281059
Abstract: An adjustably expandable fluted tap to reform damaged threads defined in a blind hole, such as a spark plug hole. The tool provides an elongate body with a first end defining an expandable fluted tap having a relaxed diameter smaller than but matingly similar to the threads to be repaired, and a second end defining a butterfly handle. The body defines a medial channel carrying an arbor with a first end having a tapered forcing cone for expanding the fluted tap, and a second end threadedly engaged in a round knurled nut carried externally of the second end of the body. The tap is inserted in a hole beyond the damaged threads, the knurled nut tightened to retract the forcing cone to expand the fluted tap into mating engagement with the undamaged threads and the tool is then screwed out of the hole by revolving the butterfly handle to reform the damaged threads as it is withdrawn therepast.

  • Patent number: 5271299
Abstract: A tool for removing a canister type oil filter from an engine and containing oil leaked from the filter and the engine block as the filter is removed. The tool provides a cylindrical body, defining an upwardly opening upper wrenching chamber to irrotatably fit over the lower portion of an oil filter to be removed and an oil reservoir therebelow which provides means for manual turning and for attachment of other tools to aid torquing. The inside surface of the wrenching chamber is configured to fit over and irrotatably engage the lower part of particularly configured filters and allows oil to flow toward the lower oil reservoir. A peripherally defined flexible boot extends upwardly and outwardly from the open upper end of the wrenching chamber to catch oil leakage and channel the oil into the oil reservoir.

  • Patent number: 5253735
Abstract: Three adjacent disks carried by an "S" cam shaft of a truck brake system sense motion of system components beyond predetermined limits to indicate need for adjustment and parts replacement and annunciate such information at a distance from the brake system. A first outer disk journaled on the "S" cam shaft is interconnected to the slack adjuster arm to rotate responsive to motion of the slack adjuster arm. A second medial disk journaled on the "S" cam shaft is supported by external structure to remain stationary relative to that shaft. A third outer disk is irrotatably carried by the "S" cam shaft to rotate with it. The second medial disk carries two Hall effect switches to sense the rotary position of magnets carried in the first and third adjacent outer disks to determine motion of the slack adjuster arm and the "S" cam shaft beyond predetermined limits to indicate need for brake adjustment and brake shoe replacement. Sensed data is transmitted to an annunciator at a distance from the braking system.

  • Patent number: 5188637
Abstract: A metallic clip, to fasten two ends of latex surgical tubing under tension when used as a ligation element especially as in the castration of animals, provides a cylindrical tubular element defining an axially aligned slit through its periphery, with each side portion adjacent the slit defining angulated slots extending spacedly inwardly from a first end of the clip in a diverging fashion, to receive tubing ends. The clip defines an outwardly extending alignment protuberance inwardly from the second end of the clip in a position diametrically opposed to the peripheral slit. For use two latex surgical tubes are passed through the clip channel and one end portion of the tube is inserted in each slot. After tensioning the tubing, the clip is mechanically deformed, preferably by a tool created for such purpose, to bend each body portion between the slot and the slit inwardly to fasten each adjacent tube portion between that clip portion and the opposite side wall of the clip.

  • Patent number: 5090929
Abstract: Paired spaced electrically driven motors provide a steerable propelling system for small boats. Each motor drives a propeller carried in an elongate channel, communicating from each lateral side of a boat beneath the water line to one boat end, to move water through such channels for boat propulsion. The electrical motors are of variable speed, reversible, and separately controlled by a joystick type control device to provide differential control of motor speed to allow steerage. The propelling system provides a low speed, maneuverable propulsion system for fishing use, as an auxiliary power system for boats having a separate principal powering system, and to aid maneuverability alone or in conjunction with the principal powering system.
