Abstract: A fluid disinfection module (10) comprises a first housing (12) and a second housing (20) arranged in spaced-apart relationship to each other. The first housing (12) includes tubular support members (28) and (28a) extending laterally therefrom for respective slidable mateable engagement with corresponding tubular support members (30) and (30a) also laterally extending from second housing (20), to vary the lateral distance x between the first and second housings (12) and (20). A locking device maintains tubular support members (28,28a) and (30,30a) in fixed relationship with respect to each other. First housing (12), second housing (20), and corresponding tubular support members (28,28a) and (30,30a) define a framework for supporting one or more ultraviolet radiation sources (18) and (26) that are detachably mounted at one end thereof to housings (12) and (20), respectively.
Abstract: An air disinfection module for use in a HVAC system comprises a first and second housing, each of the housings including at least one support member adjustably coupled with the other to form a framework for varying the lateral distance between the first and second housings. The housings further comprise a lamp assembly that includes at least one ultraviolet radiation source communicating with and projecting from its respective housing towards its opposite housing, and a radiation pervious protective sleeve disposed about the radiation source. Electric transmission means are also included which communicates with the ultraviolet radiation source(s) and with at least one source of electrical power to provide electricity to the ultraviolet radiation sources. At least one cross support member communicating with the protective sleeves and the support members is provided for supporting the sleeves and their corresponding ultraviolet radiation sources between the first and second housings.

Abstract: A system (10) and method for the induction of a fluid into the combustion chamber (15) of an internal combustion engine comprising a cylinder head (12) having at least one intake port (14) communicating with at least one combustion chamber (15) via a valve seat (22) disposed about the intake port (14), and at least one intake valve (16) provided with a valve head (20) having a valve face (21) engageable with the valve seat (22). Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for creating and/or maintaining an electrical load on a diesel engine generator for use on a marine vessel in order to avoid the harmful effects of no-load or low-load operation of the diesel engine. The parasitic load bank system 10 utilizes the heat transfer fluid 23 contained in the closed circulation loop 28 of a chille7d-fluid air conditioning system 14 for creating and/or maintaining the electrical load on the diesel engine generator 12 by utilizing a load bank controller 44 for diverting a portion 23c of the heat transfer fluid 23a being supplied to the vessel's air handlers 42 into heat exchange relationship with the heat transfer fluid 20b discharged from the air conditioning system's source of heat transfer 18 such that the heat exchanged heat transfer fluid 23f activates the source of heat transfer 18, which may be a chiller, reverse-cycle chiller or heat pump, to create an electrical power demand on the diesel engine generator 12.

Abstract: A two-handed glove receptacle for enclosing the left hand of one person and the right hand of another to permit contact of the hands within a common compartment. The receptacle preferably takes the form of a pair of mittens joined together at an opening provided in the palm side of the palm-and-fingers section of each mitten, the opening defining an area generally covering the palm and fingers of the hand, excluding the thumb. Abstract: The present invention relates to a cam-operated, self-adjusting brakeshoe adjustor that is utilized in heavy duty air braking vehicles that employ single and/or multiple-web brakeshoes. The brakeshoe adjustor includes a roller assembly, a cylindrical roller sleeve, and a pawl assembly. The roller assembly comprises a fixed eccentric roller(s) and spindle arrangement for slidable engagement with a cylindrical roller sleeve(s) which in turn is actuated by the rotation of the cam shaft. At least one portion of the spindle is provided with a ratchet for constant engagement with a mateable pawl. The rotation of the roller sleeve(s) about the eccentric roller(s) is limited by the arcuate distance of a slot contained about the edge of the roller sleeve within which a pin, radially extending from the roller, is engaged.
Abstract: A detergent product comprises a particulate detergent composition contained within a closed water-insoluble bag which has a water-sensitive seal, whereby the contents of the bag are discharged on contact of the bag with water. Use of such detergent products improves detergent dosage control and hence cost-effectiveness, and is particularly beneficial for detergent compositions of higher density than customary or which contain water-insoluble ingredients.

Abstract: This invention relates to a detergent bar having superior use properties and comprising acyl isethionate as the major detergent surface active agent with an unesterified water-soluble alkali metal isethionate as a bar processing aid. Adding an alkoxy hydroxy propane sulfonate in conjunction with a small amount of sodium chloride to these toilet detergent bars significantly reduces the wear rate of the bar without adversely affecting its lathering characteristics.
Abstract: Surface discoloration of water-in-oil emulsion type food spreads such as margarines can be reduced by incorporating into the fat or water phase of the spread a substance which makes the optical properties of the spread, when dehydrated, comparable to the optical properties of a freshly prepared spread. Titanium dioxide may be used for this purpose at levels as low as 0.1% by weight of the spread.

Abstract: The invention relates to a dentifrice which contains at least 40% by weight of abrasive agent of which at least 30% by weight of the dentifrice is alpha-alumina trihydrate having a particle size such that at least about 20%, and preferably at least about 25%, by weight of the particles have a size greater than 20 microns. Abstract: The invention relates to a process for removing impurities from triglyceride oils in which before the removal is effected the level of hydratable phosphatide is increased. The phosphatide together with the impurities can be removed from the oil by any suitable degumming process. Impurities which are removed by the process of the invention include iron, non-hydratable phosphatides, waxes, sterolglucosides, etc.
Abstract: Fractionation of glyceride oils is effected by cooling under the influence of homogeneous agitation by stirring, particularly by means of a cylindrical stirrer concentric with a chamber containing the oil, with the development of crystalline agglomerates of lower-melting fractions of the oil which are easily separated from the oil by filtration and if desired by washing. Heavy crops of crystal fractions can be separated containing up to 35 wt % solids, for the preparation for example of margarine fats from vegetable fats which may be hardened before or after fractionation.
