  • Patent number: 7831357
Abstract: An apparatus for triggering restraint devices includes crash sensors inside and outside of a control unit. The apparatus checks a crash signal of the crash sensors using a plausibility signal. To check the crash signal, the apparatus receives the plausibility signal from a vehicle sensor outside of the control unit, and then triggers the restraint devices as a function of the crash signal and the first plausibility signal.

  • Patent number: 7828394
Abstract: In response to detection of a slip-down of a vehicle under restriction of a motor torque Tm*, which is required for a drive shaft linked with drive wheels, due to the occurrence of a slip caused by spin of the drive wheels on an ending slope, the technique of the invention multiplies a torque insufficiency by a ratio (reflection ratio ?) specified according to a vehicle speed V in a t direction, so as to set a brake tourgue Tb*. The torque insufficiency corresponds to a difference between the restricted motor torque Tm* and a balancing torque Tgrad corresponding to a road surface gradient set according to the relation between an acceleration of the vehicle and a torque output to the drive shaft The setting of the brake torque Tb* makes the velocity of the slip-down of the vehicle approach to a preset vehicle speed. The brake torque Tb* is applied by hydraulic brakes attached to driven wheels which am different from the drive wheels.

  • Patent number: 7829233
Abstract: A high-precision gas leak judgment comparable to that when the fuel cell is operating normally is achieved even when a fuel cell is restarted. A gas leak judgment unit (for example ECU 13) for judging gas leak in a closed space formed in a fuel gas system refers to a gas leak judgment value based on pressure change in the closed space detected by a pressure sensor to judge gas leak and, in addition, varies the fuel gas leak judgment level in response to nitrogen concentration in a fuel electrode. The varying of gas leak judgment level in response to the nitrogen concentration takes into account a temporary rise in the nitrogen concentration in the fuel electrode that occurs when a fuel cell stack is restarted and, in this case, it is preferable that the gas judgment value be altered in response to the nitrogen concentration.

  • Patent number: 7831396
Abstract: A method and a device are for predicting a life expectancy of a product, which includes at least two components. The life expectancy is ascertained as a function of an assumed field loading of the product. The components of the product are acted upon by different loadings and are operated, in each instance, at the different loadings until they fail. An end-of-life curve of the component is recorded on the basis of the load-dependent failure times of a component. An EOL curve of the product is ascertained such that at the different loadings, it includes the EOL curve of the components which has, in each instance, the shortest failure time at the corresponding loading. The anticipated service life of the product is determined as a functional value of the EOL curve of the product as a function of the predefined loading of the product.

  • Patent number: 7831373
Abstract: A method for operating an internal combustion engine in which at least one secondary fuel injection is carried out, and a device for implementing the method. The level of the motor oil of the internal combustion engine is ascertained, which is compared to a first threshold value for the maximum possible oil level. If a threshold is exceeded, a warning signal is provided. Preferably an oil-dilution signal, which is a measure for the quantity and/or the volume of the oil dilution input into the motor oil of the internal combustion engine by the at least one secondary fuel injection, is taken into account when ascertaining the oil level.
