  • Patent number: 4132634
Abstract: In a method and apparatus for sifting particulate material in a cross current, the method and apparatus being of the type wherein all particles of the same size are propelled transversely at the same velocity of at least approximately 5 m/sec and with the same direction in a thin layer into a high velocity sifting gas current so as to preclude a determinative influence of gravity, the particles spread out into the current and after a time of flight of the order of magnitude of 1/100 second separated into two or more fractions by one or more knife edges disposed in a direction opposite to the material trajectories without previously rebounding from any wall, and the incoming sifting gas flow subdivided into at least two parts which are led off separately, improved separation characteristics are obtained by establishing an additional partial flow which is led off in a direction different from the influx direction of the sifting gas current, the partial flow having a momentum component in a direction opposite to

  • Patent number: 4132350
Abstract: A magnetic card comprises (1) a planar substrate having at least a surface layer of a thermoplastic resin, (2) a magnetic layer disposed at at least one part of a surface of the planar substrate, (3) a color layer disposed on the magnetic layer, and (4) a pattern layer disposed on the color layer. In this magnetic card, the color of the magnetic layer which does not contribute to an attractive appearance is hidden under the color layer, and, because the pattern layer is disposed on the color layer, the pattern is not restricted by the color of the magnetic layer and appears clear due to the presence of the color layer. Accordingly, this magnetic card can be produced with an improved appearance from the viewpoint of design.

  • Patent number: 4129691
Abstract: Electrolytes for use in lithium primary cells are made from a mixture of three organic solvents and an alkaline solute. The first solvent is chosen to have a dielectric constant greater than 35 (e.g. propylene carbonate), the second solvent is a linear polyether with its ether functional groups in the .gamma. position (e.g. 1-2 dimethoxyethane) and the third solvent has a high solvation power for dissolving large quantities of the alkaline salt (e.g. 1-3 dioxolane). The solvents are so chosen that the conductivity maxima of the electrolytes that would be obtained by mixing the solvents in pairs are higher than the conductivity maxima of the electrolytes that would be obtained by using each of the solvents on its own. The positive electrode cell using the electrolyte may be cupric oxide or ferrous disulphide.

  • Patent number: 4129141
Abstract: The scram valve has a closing piston which can be controlled by a pilot valve in a pressure medium supply line to the closing piston. The pilot valve has a control piston which is spring biased on one side and connected on the other side with the flow of medium in the outlet spigot of the scram valve. Thus, should the pressure in the outlet spigot drop, the control piston moves to open the pressure medium supply line to the closing piston. In addition, this supply line is connected at the upstream end to the scram valve casing upstream of the valve seat so that the pressure of the medium flowing through the scram valve aids in the closing of this valve.
