  • Patent number: 6457727
Abstract: A hand truck includes an automatic height adjusting load platform, or alternatively, a kit of components provides for adding an adjustable load platform to an existing hand truck. The load platform position is held in a raised position while under no load conditions. A user places an article including a package on the raised platform, which is configured to rest at approximately waist level. In response to the weight of the article, the platform lowers, but the downward motion of the platform is inhibited by a platform arrestor. Preferably, the platform arrestor is configured such that the distance the platform will drop due to the weight of the load is proportional to the height of the article placed upon the platform. Thus the top of the article first placed upon the load platform is now substantially at waist level. This process can continue until the platform is lowered to the bottom of the shaft that the platform is slidably mounted to.

  • Patent number: 6457950
Abstract: A pump is disclosed, including a motor and a pump housing, for pumping mixed gas and liquid. The pump includes two intermeshed screw members for providing progressive cavities for transporting mixed fluids, within a pumping cavity, from a suction passage to a discharge reservoir of the pump housing. It further uses pumped product to provide cooling and lubrication to the motor and to bearings and timing gears of the screw members. By using pumped product for lubrication and cooling, the need for seals is eliminated, thereby reducing the need for maintenance. This makes the pump package advantageous for subsea deployment for use in pumping nearly depleted wells which may be manifolded together to provide adequate product flow.

  • Patent number: 6455367
Abstract: A dynamic random access memory (DRAM) includes a plurality of memory cells aligned with one another along a pair of wordlines with each wordline being connected to access alternate ones of the memory cells. The DRAM has aligned memory cells having cell areas of 6F2 yet exhibiting substantially the same superior signal-to-noise performance found in DRAM's having staggered 8F2 memory cells. The DRAM memory cells are formed by transistor stacks which are aligned along and interconnected by wordlines extending between and included within the transistor stacks. By forming the wordlines as a part of the transistor stacks, the wordlines are narrow ribbons of conductive material. During formation of the transistor stacks, the wordlines are connected so that a first wordline controls access transistors of every other one of the memory cells and a second wordline controls the access transistors of the remaining memory cells.

Abstract: A spring element used in a temporary package for testing semiconductors is provided. The spring element is compressed so as to press the semiconductor, either in the form of a bare semiconductor die or as part of a package, against an interconnect structure. The spring element is configured so that it provides sufficient pressure to keep the contacts on the semiconductor in electrical contact with the interconnect structure. Material is added and/or removed from the spring element so that it has the desired modulus of elasticity. The shape of the spring element may also be varied to change the modulus of elasticity, the spring constant, and the force transfer capabilities of the spring element.

  • Patent number: 6447240
Abstract: An arrangement is provided for determining the relative angular orientation between an excavator bucket and the dipper stick of an excavator. The excavator bucket is mounted on a bucket linkage that is pivotally secured to the end of the dipper stick. An hydraulic actuator has an hydraulic cylinder pivotally connected to the dipper stick, and a piston rod pivotally connected to the bucket linkage. Extension or contraction of the hydraulic actuator causes the excavator bucket to be pivoted by the bucket linkage with respect to the dipper stick. A cable extension linear position transducer having a transducer casing, a sheath extending from the casing to a pulley system, and an extensible belt cable extending from the sheath through the pulley system to an end of the piston rod, provides an electrical output related to the extension of the belt cable from the sheath. A transducer mounting secures the casing of the cable extension linear position transducer in fixed relationship to the hydraulic cylinder.
