Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel class of (R)-4-(heteroaryl)phenylpropionic derivatives of formula (I), useful in the inhibition of the chemotactic activation induced by the fraction C5a of complement. Said compounds are useful in the treatment of pathologies depending on the chemotactic activation of neutrophils and monocytes induced by the fraction C5a of the complement. In particular, the compounds of the invention are useful in the treatment of autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA), psoriasis, bullous pemphigoid, rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis, acute respiratory distress syndrome, idiopathic fibrosis, glomerulonephritis and in the prevention and treatment of injury caused by ischemia and reperfusion.
Abstract: This invention provides edible compositions comprising pharmaceutically or nutraceutically active agents in particulate form homogeneously dispersed in a fat matrix, such as chocolate or chocolate compound coating.
Abstract: The coating described herein attempts to provide this solution by synthesizing alkoxysilane-terminated N-substituted urea resins, then formulating them into moisture-curable single-component (1K) topside coatings. These coatings will provide greater external stability (to UV and visible radiation), cleanability, flexibility, cure times and lower VOC content than the currently qualified silicone alkyd topside coatings that are found on Navy ships. The single-component coating can include at least an alkoxysilane-terminated N-substituted urea resin, a reactive diluent, a pigment, a filler, and a catalyst. The resin can include an amino-functional silane substituted at the N-position and a non-aromatic isocyanate.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling the flow of combustion air, fuel and products of combustion in a heater and equalizing radiant heat flux by providing a structure on one or more of the heater walls that attaches the boundary layer and main flow to the heater wall and increases wall surface area and view angles.
Abstract: A system and method is presented for determining at what price and when to release so-called ‘flex’ price tickets during an on-sale using hazard functional analyses of sales velocity and sales/inquiry ratios. Exponential, power, and Weibull-gamma models are also used to predict demand, depending on what part of the on-sale is involved. Determining demand of seats from secondary markets is also described with methods to use the demand for either repricing the seats in the primary market or presenting ‘best value’ seats to a prospective purchaser. Demand can be interpolated or extrapolated to individual seats or rows.

Abstract: A modular heat sink includes one or more heat sink sections interconnected sequentially to each other to form a polar array. Each heat sink section includes a first connecting part and a second connecting part, where the first connecting part is configured to couple with the second connecting part of another heat sink section. Once assembled, the modular heat sink includes a channel formed substantially through the center of the modular heat sink. Each heat sink section is manufactured using an extrusion process. The assembled modular heat sink has one or more hollow portions within the overall shape that cannot be fabricated in a single extrusion process. One or more LEDs are coupled to the outer surface of the modular heat sink. The modular heat sink, with LEDs coupled thereto, is coupled to a wireway tube and mounted to a post-top light fixture to form an LED luminaire.

Abstract: An extremely dilute mixture of a liquid in a flowing fluid stream is prepared by forming tiny droplets of the liquid and injecting the droplets individually into the flowing stream. The rate at which liquid is added to the flowing stream is determined by the number of droplet forming units that are provided and upon the frequency with which the units are activated, allowing a precise digital control of the concentration of the liquid in the flowing fluid stream.

Abstract: An HID luminaire includes a single luminaire housing that includes thermally isolated lamp and ballast compartments. At least one HID lamp is disposed within the luminaire housing, and at least one ballast is disposed within the ballast compartment. The lamp and ballast compartments are separated by a chamber that includes a substantially nonconductive member, which prevents heat from the lamp compartment from travelling to the ballast compartment. Thermally isolating the ballast from at least a portion of the heat generated by the HID lamp allows the ballast to be disposed relatively close to the HID lamp without becoming overheated and damaged. A hollow, threaded rod extends between and couples together the lamp compartment and ballast compartment. Electric wires connecting the HID lamp and ballast extends through the threaded rod, providing necessary electrical power in an aesthetically pleasing design.

Abstract: Battery powered systems with long standby times, such as automatic external defibrillators (AEDs), may be required to indicate their operational status to a user by blinking lights or sounding speakers or buzzers. These active status indication activities consume power thereby reducing the battery life of the system. To conserve power and to be more effective in seeking attention from a human operator, the status alerts for the AED produced by an active status indicator (ASI) system can be more meaningful to humans or more unique relative to status alerts provided by conventional devices. Additionally, the ASI system may automatically adjust power consumed by the indicators in response to sensing environmental conditions of the AED.

Abstract: A dual energy x-ray imaging system searches a moving automobile for concealed objects. Dual energy operation is achieved by operating an x-ray source at a constant potential of 100KV to 150KV, and alternately switching between two beam filters. The first filter is an atomic element having a high k-edge energy, such as platinum, gold, mercury, thallium, lead, bismuth, and thorium, thereby providing a low-energy spectrum. The second filter provides a high-energy spectrum through beam hardening. The low and high energy beams passing through the automobile are received by an x-ray detector. These detected signals are processed by a digital computer to create a steel suppressed image through logarithmic subtraction. The intensity of the x-ray beam is adjusted as the reciprocal of the measured automobile speed, thereby achieving a consistent radiation level regardless of the automobile motion.
Abstract: A foot orthotic device is disclosed. More specifically described is an individualized foot orthotic device to correct and/or restore the ideal alignment and/or positioning of foot structures. The device is designed using a method and system that applies sequential pressure to regions on a plantar foot surface, and obtaining positional information about each region. Based on the positional information, an orthotic profile is determined, for design of one or more custom, individualized foot orthotic devices for a subject.
