Abstract: A power distribution system that can be used in naval ships and submarines includes a first propulsion drive system including a propulsion motor having superconducting (preferably high temperature superconducting (HTS)) rotor windings and a power converter. A first propulsion power generation system supplies power to the first propulsion drive system and includes a generator having superconducting (preferably HTS) rotor windings and a power converter. A first power generation system includes a power source for supplying power to a first service distribution system that includes a dc distribution busbar (optionally implemented using HTS cabling or busbar) for carrying a distribution voltage and a distribution current, and a switchboard that includes protective switchgear with contacts. A power converter is used to connect the power source to the switchboard. The power converters are regulated according to a power source foldback and stabilizing characteristic.
Abstract: A material for removing residue toner has a non-woven felt with excellent oil retentivity, cleaning, and dry heat-stability, which is disposed on an oiled belt, an oiled roller or an oiled pad for a fixing machine or the like in a photographic imaging process. The material is composed of the felt in which carded lap is milled by punching with needle, the carded lap being consisted mainly of one or more heat-resistant organic fibers whose cross section has an acute angle. The felt is attached adhesively on a body of an acting member and comes into contact with the surface of an operating member such as a fixing roller or a developing roller.
Abstract: A high-efficiency windmill includes an inner rotor having propellers for capturing wind blowing along a wind direction to push the inner rotor about an axis, and an outer rotor rotatable about the same axis independently of the inner rotor radially exteriorly of the inner rotor. The outer rotor is self-positionable in a rotor position about the axis in response to the wind direction. The outer rotor has an airfoil-shaped vane having a forward surface generally facing the wind in the rotor position, and a rear surface generally facing away from the wind in the rotor position. The rear surface creates a negative pressure zone by accelerating the wind across the rear surface. At least one of the propellers adjacent the airfoil-shaped vane in the rotor position is pulled by the negative pressure zone to assist the wind in pushing the propellers about the axis.
Abstract: A waterproof lighting fixture includes a transparent tubular enclosure having two open ends and an inner peripheral wall that defines an inner hole. A lamp device is disposed in the inner hole, and includes a lamp seat, a LED light source module, a reflector component, a LED driver, and a power cable. The lamp seat has a heat-dissipating peripheral wall that is disposed around the lamp seat, that defines a compartment having an upper end opening, and that has an inner surface. A heat-dissipating base wall is disposed on the inner surface, and has a bottom surface. At least one heat-dissipating connecting wall is connected between the bottom surface and the inner surface. First and second waterproof devices are disposed for sealing the open ends of the enclosure, respectively.
Abstract: A circuit for use with a stator winding of a rotating or linear electrical machine, the stator winding having a number of coils linked by the same number of points of common coupling, includes an electronic commutator circuit having the same number of switching stages, each connected between a respective one of the points of common coupling and first and second main dc lines. Each switching stage includes first and second reverse blocking semiconductor power devices. A voltage clamping circuit includes the same number of clamping stages, each connected between a respective one of the points of common coupling and first and second auxiliary dc lines. Each clamping stage includes first and second diodes and first and second capacitors common to the various clamping stages. A dc to dc converter selectively discharges the first and second capacitors to the first and second main dc lines.
Abstract: A push-bar indexing device that, when an index table is rotated by a specific angle, the table is accurately stopped to accurately index a workpiece. Each time a push bar is moved, a stopper is moved to a predetermined position by excessive relative movement between a spindle and a main table. An engagement member is operatively associated with the index table, which causes the engagement member to be rotated by a specific angle each time the index table is rotated. This allows the engagement member to be engaged with the stopper of a predetermined position, causing the index table to be stopped by the stopper.
Abstract: A transmission method in which a first signal frame, carrying a payload in a first part of the signal frame and second information in a second part of the signal frame, is transmitted intact between a signal source and a signal destination by copying the second information into the first part of at least one additional signal frame, transmitting both frames between the signal source and the signal destination and, at the destination, reconstructing the first signal frame by retrieving its original second information from the first part or parts of the additional signal frame or frames and placing the retrieved second information in the second part of the first signal frame. A typical application of the transmission method lies in its use in an SDH transmission system.

Abstract: A method of treating liquid, particularly an oil/water mixture, in an oil well pipe, wherein a radio frequency propagating electrical field is established in the liquid in the pipe cause the formation of seed crystals or scale-forming material in the liquid, on which seed crystals asphaltenes and/or paraffin waxes in the liquid are deposited so that they are carried through the pipe with the liquid in preference to being deposited on the pipe wall.
Abstract: A double containment electrical junction box is interfaced with electrical equipment in an equipment enclosure containing harmful contaminants, such as noxious gases and odors generated in a wet well containing a submersible electrical pump that pumps waste water from the well. A lower container contains electrical wiring connected to the pump, and is in gaseous communication with the well for enabling the contaminants from the well to enter the lower container. An openable upper container contains electrical junctions for the electrical wiring from the lower container. Cable and integrity seals between the containers prevents the contaminants in the lower container from reaching the upper container, to prevent migration of the contaminants away from the lower container.

Abstract: A ballast system for, and a method of, controlling illumination of a lamp, include a dimmer switch having an actuator settable at different settings corresponding to different output voltages across the dimmer switch, a dimming electronic ballast operatively connected to an electrical power source and to the dimmer switch for dimming the lamp upon setting of the actuator, and a shutdown circuit, preferably provided in the ballast, for measuring the output voltages across the dimmer switch, and for automatically powering the ballast off and, in turn, for turning the lamp off when one of the voltages measured by the shutdown circuit does not exceed a reference voltage that corresponds to one of the settings of the actuator.
Abstract: A transmitter for an optical RZ-DPSK communication signal comprises a source for an optical carrier, an electro-optical modulator which comprises at least one element having an optical path length adapted to be varied by an electrical driver signal for intensity modulating the optical carrier based on the driver signal, and a driver circuit for generating the driver signal from an electrical communication signal. The driver signal is an impulse-type signal having two types of impulses spaced in time by a neutral signal state, wherein in the presence of the neutral state of the driver signal at the modulator, the transmission of the modulator becomes zero, and the two types of impulses each cause a transmission different from zero and a phase which is specific for the type of the impulses in the modulator.

Abstract: A stabilized mount stably supports a motion-sensitive, image capture device, such as a cellular telephone or a personal digital assistant, on a support surface, such as a tripod or analogous camera equipment. The device is operative for capturing an image over a field of view along an optical axis perpendicular to an image plane. The mount includes a holder for holding the device during image capture, and a fixed base integral with the holder and lying in a base plane perpendicular to the image plane when the base is supported by the support surface in a supported orientation. The base is operative for steadily positioning the holder and the device on the support surface in the supported orientation during the image capture.
