  • Patent number: 4831907
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for checking performance of the cutting-off operation on automatic lathes for working bar material or the like. In accordance with the invention, operating conditions are initiated at the end of a prescribed time interval for the cutting-off operation which result in relative rotation of the spindles in opposite directions in the event that the material has been completely severed at the cutting-off point. A discrepancy between the specified and the actual relative rotation is interpreted as a system failure due to the presence of a material link at the cutting-off point, whereupon a corresponding error signal is triggered.

  • Patent number: 4825177
Abstract: A broad band, balanced microwave component, such as an amplifier, includes an input Lange coupler having a first center frequency and an output Lange coupler having a second center frequency. The center frequencies of the two Lange couplers are offset or the coupling is different so that at least one of the cross-over points of the input Lange coupler is offset in frequency from both the cross-over points of the output Lange coupler. The pair of Lange couplers so offset in frequency yields no more than one peak in gain which is readily equalized by single-ended amplifiers within the balanced amplifier.

  • Patent number: 4821097
Abstract: A television transmission system replaces the standard FM audio portion of a television signal with digital audio. Three digital audio channels are time division multiplexed on the sound carrier, using combined multi-phase and AM modulation. The audio signals are digitized using adaptive delta modulation techniques. Video vertical and horizontal framing, as well as the audio carrier phase reference, audio data bit time and frame reference, and various control data is carried using AM modulation. The digital audio information is carried using multi-phase modulation. The composite data stream may be serially encrypted to provide security and prevent unauthorized reproduction of the video and/or audio portions of the television signal.

  • Patent number: 4818973
Abstract: A system for detecting a transfer of article comprising a card attached to the article and a detector. When the article having the card is transferred to a monitoring area, electromagnetic signals are transmitted in advance from the detector to the monitoring area, and received by the card. Then, high frequency signals are transmitted from the card to the detector, thereby a transfer of the article can be detected.

  • Patent number: 4814887
Abstract: An automatic frequency control tracks a television signal before and after a period of interruption. The automatic frequency control comprises a voltage controlled feedback loop including a voltage controlled local oscillator and a mixer for mixing the output of the oscillator with the TV signal. The output of the mixer is filtered to remove unwanted components of the mixed signal and to equalize sidebands of the television signal. The output of the filter is supplied to a detector which is tuned to a component of the television signal, and produces a voltage corresponding to the frequency of the component. The output of the detector is supplied to the voltage control input of the local oscillator to track the television signal component. Circuitry automatically senses the absence of the TV signal component from the mixer, and automatically applies a reference voltage to the voltage control input of the oscillator when the TV signal component is absent.

  • Patent number: 4813013
Abstract: An interactive rule based system enables problem solutions to be generated in schematic diagram form. A methodology designer selects and arranges graphic primitives using a graphics terminal to create a library of icons. Under control of a computer processor, the methodology designer is prompted to identify, by way example, parameters for using each icon. The system generates and stores a specific set of rules pertaining to the use of each icon on the basis of the parameters identified. The stored rules are cross-referenced to the icon to which they pertain, so that whenever the icon is selected by a problem solving user for use in building a problem solution, the rules pertaining thereto will be accessed and applied. A methodology designer can also select and concatenate functions to each other and to icons to create more complex functions for use in building problem solutions. New functions can also be created in the form of truth tables which establish a transfer function across an icon.

  • Patent number: 4811841
Abstract: A device and method of constructing articles of fresh cut parts of plants and artificial decorative embodiments. The packaging is characterized by enveloping such articles with an inflated balloon. The article being placed in an open container, a balloon is then inflated and receives the article and container and is then securely attached to the container, thereby enclosing the article. A device for constructing the packaged article employs a rigid conduit which is received in the balloon to facilitate reception of the article and container. The gas used to inflate the balloons can be air or nitrogen. If cut flowers are used, the container is provided with some water and plant food.

At least one rotatable member is mounted on the female plate and has a pin that engages over the head of a corresponding projection to enable locking of the plates in both their electrical and mechanical connected relationship. Upon rotation of the member, the pin is moved out of engagement with the projection to enable uncoupling of the plates. A safety latch can be activated to abut the rotatable member when the plates are locked together to preclude inadvertent decoupling.
