  • Patent number: 4799614
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for ultrasonic welding of wires which include a welding tip of a standard shaped readily machineable cross section with no concave surfaces. The welding tip is rotatable about an ultrasonic horn to present several alternative available worksurfaces. The worksurface in use defines a wall of the compression chamber into which wires to be welded are inserted. An anvil, a support, and a gathering tool each define an additional surface of the compression chamber. The position of each of these elements is adjustable thereby allowing for adjustment in two dimensions of the cross section of the compression chamber. This allows for the welding of various sizes or numbers of wires.

  • Patent number: 4799034
Abstract: A tunable coupled transmission line band reject filter for use in the microwave frequency range includes a coupled transmission line having first and second line sections. Each line section has an input end and an output end. A transmission line exhibits a natural notch at a particular frequency. A first varactor is coupled between the input ends of the first and second sections. A second varactor is coupled between the output ends of the first and second sections. A D.C. bias voltage across the varactor diodes controls the center frequency of the resulting notch filter.

  • Patent number: 4796778
Abstract: In a locking mechanism, in particular, for fixing filter holders on sterilizing containers, with a housing in which a locking member is displaceable between two end positions, namely a first end position in which it engages behind a locking projection, and a second end position in which it releases the locking projection, with a spring means which biases the locking member in the direction towards the first end position, and with an actuating member protruding from the housing for displacement of the locking member, in order to ensure that unlocking does not occur if the actuating member is unintentionally actuated, it is suggested that a second actuating member be provided and that the actuating members be arranged on the housing on opposite sides thereof and be actuatable by displacement in the direction towards the respective other actuating member, the locking mechanism only being unlockable if both actuating members are actuated.

  • Patent number: 4793228
Abstract: In a machine for slicing food such as meat, sausage, cheese or the like comprising a conveying device for carrying the slices of food cut off by a rotating blade to a deposit area and a knocking-off mechanism for transferring the slices from the conveying device to the deposit area, the conveying device is driven by an independent motor of its own. The position of a slide carrying the food to be cut can be sensed by sensing means, and a follow-up control device which is connected, on the one hand, to the sensing means, and, on the other hand, to a drive motor and its encoder ensures synchronous follow-up of the conveying device in dependence upon the position of the slide.

  • Patent number: 4793111
Abstract: A pole assembly includes an elongate tubular pole releasably locked or held to a base plate. Spaced apart bores are formed in the tubular pole by forming elongate partial bores and closing same with elongate clamp members. The bores so formed are aligned with bores in the base plate to form aligned bore passages each of which houses a spindle. Each spindle is mounted in the tubular pole and a locking device engages each spindle and the base plate to releasably lock the pole to the base plate via the spindles. The assembly has particular utility in the case of an extruded metal pole wherein bores are not readily formed, and additionally overcomes disadvantages associated with the welding of a pole to a base plate.

  • Patent number: 4792251
Abstract: A lipstick container having an attractive noncircular form includes a unique operating mechanism for reciprocating a cup member adapted to hold a mass of lipstick. The operating mechanism includes a friction ring which is fitted on the outer body member whereby a constant swivel torque is required to opereate the mechanism through the length of its stroke. The friction ring creates a smoothly operating, luxurious feeling mechanism, limits relative axial movement or "shuck" between the inner and outer body members, and eliminates the need for a bottom pair of lock extension slots.
