  • Patent number: 4199684
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the determination of the electron density in a part volume in a patient by means of an X-ray tube, said tube comprising an anode symmetrical with respect to rotation as an electron beam rotates relative to the axis of rotation. As a result an X-ray emission from several points is obtained. By means of the scattered X-rays the electron densities can be measured.

  • Patent number: 4198610
Abstract: In active element of an audio amplifier, there exists a neutral point in which the amplification is minimum. When the middle point of AC mode in a circuit is coincident with the neutral point, noise elements accompanying with input signals are not amplified, i.e. the signal-to-noise ratio of an audio amplifier is improved. The middle point of AC mode in a circuit can be varied by adjusting resistors or capacitors of the circuit.

  • Patent number: 4198182
Abstract: A mould for producing a lamp lens element comprises a mould plate having a plurality of recesses in one face thereof. Each recess is adapted to produce a projection on one face of the lens element produced from the mould, and is shaped so as to define in the projection a lens integral with and overlying a prism. In one embodiment, each recess has a concave part-spherical surface portion whose axis is inclined to the perpendicular to the general plane of the said one face of the mould plate. Alternatively, each recess is in the form of an elongate groove having a part-cylindrical mid-region whose axis is inclined relative to the general plane of the said one face of the mould plate. In the latter case, the groove also has part-spherical end regions whose axes are each either perpendicular to the said general plane or inclined at an acute angle to the perpendicular to the general plane.

  • Patent number: 4197491
Abstract: A headlamp levelling system for a road vehicle, comprises an electric motor which, in use, drives a member coupled to the headlamp so as to allow the headlamp to be adjusted in a manner to vary the direction of the light beam emitted, in use, by the headlamp. The motor is connected across the terminals of an electrical supply by way of an electrical circuit including switch means and a plurality of spaced pairs of electrical contacts. The switch means has a plurality of switch positions, one for each of said pairs of contacts, and a bridging member is associated with said pairs of contacts. The contacts and the briding member undergo relative movement in response to movement of said driven member so that the bridging member bridges said pairs of contacts, in turn, in respective discrete positions of the driven member and hence of said headlamp.

  • Patent number: 4196752
Abstract: A group valve for selectively connecting two liquid supply lines separately to a container. The valve comprises a housing with three chambers, one of which is separately connected to the others communicating with a respective liquid line. In each chamber there is a rotary slide, said slides cooperating to at each particular time open one line and close the other. In order to prevent leakage from one line to the other said two chambers communicating with the liquid lines, respectively, are provided with an outlet to the atmosphere, said outlet of each chamber being closed by the rotary slide when the liquid line is open and open when the line is closed.

  • Patent number: 4196377
Abstract: An electric vehicle traction motor control circuit includes separate armature and field current controls. The armature control includes a difference amplifier connected to compare a current demand signal with an actual current signal from a transducer and a switching circuit controlled by this difference amplifier. The field control includes a second difference amplifier which operates to weaken the field current in either of two eventualities. In motoring the second difference amplifier receives its input via a start up circuit which connects the output of the first difference amplifier to the input of the second difference amplifier when the switching means has been in a first state for more than a predetermined time. In this case the field is weakened in accordance with the short fall of the output of the first difference amplifier below a first reference level.

  • Patent number: 4196082
Abstract: A combination of a biological dry toilet and a biological waste water purifying plant. In the combination the heat and coarse sludge of the so called grey water from households is recovered in the dry toilet to which also the fine sludge from the waste water purifying plant is pumped. The heat obtained is used for heating the compost and both sludges collected in the filters are from time to time combined to compost them together with the other waste in the dry toilet. A suction fan in the dry toilet also sucks the air needed by the biofilter through the filter bed. The purified water obtained from the waste water purifying plant is absorbed in the soil.

  • Patent number: 4195516
Abstract: Apparatus for continuously measuring rates of flow of a liquid has two containers arranged serially in the liquid flow path and each associated with a self-levelling balance beam. Beam displacement is measured capacitively and used to alter current fed to a coil tending to maintain the beam level. The magnitudes of the currents necessary to maintain the beams level is a measure of the liquid level in the containers and is used to keep the liquid levels between pre-determined upper and lower values by controlling valves through which the liquid flows into the containers. The differentials of the currents with respect to time when the liquid levels are falling in both containers, are added. If the liquid level in the first container is rising, however, no differential is provided whereas the differential of the second container liquid level, when rising, is supplied to the adder but negatively. The adder provides an output which is a measure of the volume of liquid supplied by the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4195250
Abstract: In an automatic measuring apparatus and method for a numerically controlled machine tool, the dimension of a stylus secured to a cross slide and a desired dimension between two opposite points on a workpiece to be measured are inputted into an automatic measuring device in advance, the cross slide is moved under numerical control to bring the stylus into contact with the two points and to remove the stylus therefrom, and measurement of the amount of movement of the cross slide is started when the stylus leaves from one of the two points and the measurement is ended when the stylus leaves from the other point. The measurement value thus obtained, the dimension of the stylus and the desired dimension are subjected to addition and subtraction, thereby to automatically measure the actual dimension between the two points, and the difference between this actual dimension and the desired dimension.
