  • Patent number: 4118152
Abstract: A variable dosing piston pump having a cylinder made of two parts, the fixed part through which the piston rod extends and a part adapted to be inserted more or less within said fixed part and means to fix said parts relative to each other, an outlet in said fixed part for the dosed liquid, an inlet controlled by a non-return valve in said movable part, the piston having a diameter adapted to that of the movable part and comprising a non-return valve. By changing the positions of the two cylinder parts relative each other, and retaining the same piston movement, the effective stroke of the piston is changed, thereby changing the dosing.

  • Patent number: 4117793
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a pole claw member for a dynamo electric machine comprises in a first embodiment forming a serrated longitudinal edge in a ferrous strip and bending the serrated strip to form a cylinder with the serrations extending axially. The ends of the strip are then secured together by welding, rivetting or by a tang and aperture connection to produce a coronet form. The coronet form is then deformed in one or more, preferably three, die forming steps to produce the desired shape of claw and to define an annular base at the end of the cylinder. In an alternative embodiment, the coronet form is produced by punching out portions of a previously formed tube and is then deformed as in the first embodiment.

  • Patent number: 4117320
Abstract: A digital instrument produces a continuous digital readout representative of the linear movement of a member positioned by a rotatable shaft. The instrument comprises equally spaced markings formed on an element carried by a bushing intended to be secured to the shaft. Sensing means cooperate with the markings and produce an output pulse in response to the passage of a marking past the sensing means. The output pulses are counted by a reversible digital counter the count of the counter being displayed by digital display means. The electronic circuitry is carried by two printed circuit boards each of which supports a bearing for the bushing. A fixed casing fixedly supports the sensing means, the counter, the display means and the printed circuit boards.

  • Patent number: 4115893
Abstract: A gum brush has an elongated handle with a stem end, to which is secured a brush head having a bullet shape and provided therearound in symmetrically distributed arrangement several fin-like projections some of which are parallel to the handle and others are perpendicular to the handle, these projections and the brush head being made of a rubberlike material such as cis-1,4-polyisoprene. In use, the brush head and projections are placed in an infant's mouth and moved at random or are chewed by the infant. As a result, the infant's teeth are cleaned, and, at the same time, its gums are firmed and strengthened.

  • Patent number: 4113448
Abstract: Treating fluid of a single phase by feeding a stream of it into a passage so that its composition varies in a known fashion regarding a specific property over a cross-section of the stream transverse to its direction of flow. The stream is moved along the passage and parts of the stream having different compositions are separated before the variation disappears.Fluid treatment apparatus defines a passage forming at least part of a circuit. The circuit has an inlet and an outlet and means for causing flow of a single phase fluid around the circuit, and for circulating at least part of the fluid more than once around the circuit, along a helix-like path.

  • Patent number: 4114113
Abstract: This invention relates to transversely-excited gas lasers, in which the gas may be at atmospheric or greater pressure and in which the gas is excited by means of a distributed electric discharge between two electrodes. The electrodes, which are preferably elongate, are such that an initial trigger discharge occurs between minor trigger portions of the electrodes which conditions the discharge gap between the electrodes resulting in a distributed, preferably glow-type discharge, between the major portions of the electrodes causing lasing action in the gas. The trigger discharge preferably generates electro-magnetic radiation of high intensity to cause volume photo-ionization of the gas. The electrodes may be composite in form, each having a trigger electrode and a main discharge electrode that are directly electrically connected to each other.
