  • Patent number: 4124009
Abstract: An internal combustion engine spark ignition system includes a transducer and a transducer circuit which coact to produce a rectangular pulse for each spark required. The leading edge of this pulse controls an input transistor which controls an output transistor through an intermediate transistor. The output transistor in turn controls an ignition circuit controlling the current through an ignition coil. The coupling between the intermediate and output transistors includes a resistance chain to points in which two timing capacitors are connected. At high speeds the circuit provides a fixed coil current duty cycle with a relatively short off time, whereas, at low speeds the duty cycle is determined by the length of the pulses from the transducer circuit giving a relatively long off time.

  • Patent number: 4122743
Abstract: In a digital type electronic musical instrument, a glide effect is produced by digitally frequency-modulating the frequency of a musical tone in such a manner that the frequency changes quickly and smoothly. Glide information used for effecting this frequency-modulation is produced on the basis of a glide code obtained by counting a clock pulse. The glide information which changes its contents uniformly is multiplied with the basic frequency information to effect the frequency-modulation. The glide effect can be controlled for each individual keyboard. According to an embodiment of the invention, the frequency-modulation is applied to an attack portion of a musical tone only and sustain and decay portions of the musical tone are reproduced with a normal frequency so that the musical tone will be provided with a crisp, vivid musical effect.

  • Patent number: 4121390
Abstract: A manhole or a catch basin is built up by stacking a number of pre-cast concrete units. The joints between the units are provided, prior to stacking, with a bead of a non-hardening, semi-liquid, mastic waterproof layer to enable subsequent removal of the units without damaging same. The pre-cast concrete unit of this invention is typical by having cutouts in the side wall and corresponding protrusions extending from one face thereof. Hand or tool receiving depressions are provided in one surface of the unit to facilitate the handling of the unit when increasing or reducing the overall height of a manhole. The shape of the unit not only facilitates the production of same but also assists in convenient handling. Due to generally smooth faces, the steaming-off of the waterproof layer prior to the storage of a removed unit is also facilitated.
