  • Patent number: 5792503
Abstract: The temperature sensitive differential of the solubilities of isoflavones is used to separate them by heating an aqueous soy molasses feed stream. The temperature of the feed stream is increased to select an isoflavone. Then the heated feed stream is passed through an ultrafiltration membrane. The resulting permeate is cooled to crystallize the isoflavone. Or, the permeate may be put through a resin adsorption process in a liquid-chromatography column to separate out the desired isoflavone. Various processes are described for drying and recrystallizing the resulting isoflavone solids.

  • Patent number: 5789711
Abstract: The present invention is for a high performance data cable which has an interior support or star separator. The star separator or interior support extends along the longitudinal length of the data cable. The star separator or interior support has a central region. A plurality of prongs or splines extend outward from the central region along the length of the central region. Each prong or spline is adjacent with at least two other prongs or splines. The prongs or splines may be helixed or S-Z shaped as they extend along the length of the star separator or interior support. Each pair of adjacent prongs or splines defines grooves which extend along the longitudinal length of the interior support. At least two of the grooves have disposed therein an insulated conductor.

  • Patent number: 5787680
Abstract: An automatic packaging machine is adapted to insert a plurality of layers of product into a carton. In a preferred embodiment, the product is carried in an X-Y tray which is able to expand or to contract in width and to raise or lower, thereby giving two dimensional geometrical adjustments. A first layer of product is loaded into the X-Y tray. Then the tray is lowered and a second layer is placed over the first layer. The process is repeated for any number of layers. Thereafter, the stack of layers is pushed into a carton.

  • Patent number: 5784302
Abstract: In an interstitial concentration simulating method, a mesh is set in a simulation region of a semiconductor device. Under a condition that an area outside of the simulation region is infinite, a provisional interstitial concentration and a provisional interstitial diffusion flux at the boundary of the simulation region are calculated. Then, an interstitial diffusion rate at the boundary of the simulation region is calculated by a ratio of the provisional interstitial diffusion flux to the provisional interstitial concentration. Finally, an interstitial diffusion equation is solved for each element of the mesh using the interstitial diffusion rate at the boundary.

  • Patent number: 5782604
Abstract: A pump (1) has a rotor (4) and a stator (3) disposed closely adjacent to and biased towards it, but spaced apart from a surface of the rotor. The stator (3) or rotor (4) has recesses (30) on its surface facing the rotor or stator respectively, and an inlet to and an outlet from each recess to provide for the supply of fluid to and from the recess. Rotation of the rotor (4) about its axis is arranged to cause fluid to be pumped from the inlet to the outlet as a result of the viscous drag on the fluid resulting from rotation of the rotor relative to the stator (3). The force biasing the rotor (4) and stator (3) together is provided at least in part by fluid pressure feedback from the pump (1) in order to control the clamping or biasing pressure between the rotor and stator automatically.

  • Patent number: 5780068
Abstract: A fixed split mold and a movable split mold are clamped with each other to define a cavity for molding an optical disk. An annular tapered unit of the fixed mold includes a flange member and a tapered member threadably engaged with the flange member and having a tapered outer peripheral surface. The movable mold includes a base member and a tapered flange member having a tapered inner peripheral surface having an inclination equivalent to that of the tapered outer peripheral surface. After the fixed mold and movable mold are clamped to align the first and second molds, the mold assembly is mounted on and secured to a molding machine. Then, the bolts and nuts are removed and the tapered member is detached. Subsequent successive closing and opening operations of the mold assembly for molding operations do not cause any unevenness of the depth of the cavity, thereby obtaining a uniform thickness in the products which are also free from birefringence.

  • Patent number: 5781049
Abstract: A frequency divider 1 on the transmitting side divides the frequency of a clock signal of period T by 8, generates a pulse signal P2 of pulse width 4T and duty ratio 50%, and outputs the result to a shift register 2. The shift register 2 generates pulse signals P3-1, P3-2, P3-3, and P3-4 by giving delays 0, T, 2T, and 3T to the pulse signal P2, and sends them to transmission lines 101, 102, 103, and 104, respectively. Edge detectors 3-1, 3-2, 3-3, and 3-4 on the receiving side detect respectively the leading edges and the trailing edges of the pulse signals P3-1, P3-2, P3-3, and P3-4, and output edge detection signals P4-1, P4-2, P4-3, and P4-4. An OR gate 4 combines these edge detection signals. A clock regenerator 5 generates a regenerated signal P6 having the frequency equal to that of the clock signal P1 based on the combined edge detection signal P5.

  • Patent number: 5781734
Abstract: A system comprise a management section, a plurality of terminal sections and a coaxial cable. The management section is provided with a predetermined number of video game units and video recorders. The management section further comprises a memory for storing a plurality of video game programs. Each of the video game units executes a video game program to generate a first audio and video signal varying in response to a control signal received from a terminal section. Each of the video recorders storing a plurality of video movies generates a second audio and video signal associated with a video movie. A user of a terminal section selects a desired service from the video games and the video movies. When a video game is selected, the video game program is downloaded into the available game unit provided in the management section. The game unit runs the game program in response to the control signal received from the terminal section where the user is operating a keypad.

  • Patent number: 5781376
Abstract: The magnetic head disclosed has a slider which comprises a running surface where contact-sliding with respect to a magnetic recording medium occurs, and a polycrystalline silicon film which is provided on at least a portion of said running surface. The polycrystalline silicon film has a thickness of 3 to 10 nm. The running surface is formed of Al.sub.2 O.sub.3.TiC ceramic or silicon. This arrangement is effective in preventing an attraction phenomenon between the head and medium, reducing a frictional coefficient and suppressing damage to the medium.

  • Patent number: 5777772
Abstract: In an optical transmitter for optical communication, optical interconnection and so forth, one laser diode diode (LD) for emitting an optical signal is selected out of an array of LDs in response to address signals. This prevents the other or unselected LDs from consuming power and thereby obviates an increase in power consumption ascribable to an increase in the number of channels.
