    Abstract: The invention provides an immobilizer for use in X-ray, and surgical procedures. The immobilizer has a back which is adapted to be rigid or bent at various positions. It also has flexible straps for securing different sections of a patient's body against movement in the immobilizer. The immobilizer comprises two parts, a radiotransparent backing member and a radiotransparent flexible part. The backing member is removably inserted under the flexible member with the backing member held firmly by loops and slots on the back of the flexible member. The knee and elbow sections can be produced so as to be used individually and have a unique method of restraining these appendages. The elbow and head restraints are adjustable for patients of different heights.
