Abstract: An embodiment of the present invention is directed to a method for compiling, storing, and interpreting, as often as needed, a representation of any MPI datatype, including the steps of compiling a tree representation of an MPI datatype into a compact, linear data gather scatter program (DGSP) wherein the DGSP is of a form general enough to encode an arbitrarily complex datatype, registering the compact linear DGSP with a communications subsystem for later interpretation by the subsystem for at least one of sends, receives, packs and unpacks, creating a registered DGSP, and interpreting the registered DGSP. In one embodiment of the present invention, the form of the DGSP uses a single generalized representation. In another embodiment the single generalized representation covers any of the arbitrarily complex datatype patterns that can arise in this context.

Abstract: A connector is inserted into connecting holes arranged at abutment surfaces between structural members, adhesive agent is fed from one end of a hollow part of the connector or an opening part of a branch pipe of the connector and the clearances between the surface of the connector and circumferential walls of the connecting holes are filled with adhesive agent flowed out of the other end opening at the hollow part of the connector so as to connect both structural members in rigid form.
Abstract: A browser is provided in which the color of a selected linking word in a document is changed to a color that indicates the relative order in which the linking word was selected. As an example, consider a document with three hyperlinking words and the colors red, yellow and green, with red specifying the most recent hyperlink selected, yellow the next most recent, and green the least recent of the three. When the first linking word is selected, its color is changed from, for example the prior art blue, to red when the user drills back to the original web page document. When the next link is selected, it is colored red when the user returns to the original document and the first selected linking word is colored yellow. When a third hyperlinked word is selected, it is colored red on return, the first selected hyperlink word, which was yellow, is colored green, and the second selected hyperlink word, which was red, is colored yellow.
Abstract: An interlocking block for constructing walls without mortar at bed joints includes an inner wall, an outer wall, and a web arrangement connecting the walls, wherein upper and lower surfaces of the block when in use are formed in contact with walls of a mold, and the block is slipped from the mold in a direction parallel to the mold walls. Interlocking recesses and ridges are formed in one piece with the walls of the block. The web is minimal in cross-sectional area and is positioned at one end of the block and between the top and bottom to create large empty volumes defining vertical and horizontal passages. The block can include one or more intermediate walls parallel to the inner and outer walls and additional webs to connect the intermediate walls to the inner and outer walls.
Abstract: A redundant power supply with a number of loads is coupled to each half of the redundant supply by a respectively different MOSFET switch, with logic gates coupling control signals to the MOSFET switches. The control signal is coupled as one input to the logic gate and the output of the logic gate is connected to the MOSFET switch. The other input of the logic gates for a particular power supply is the output of an overvoltage detection circuit whose output is coupled as an input to all the gates for that power supply. The output of the gates opens the MOSFET switches in response to detection of an overvoltage condition.
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide a connector in which a strong connection can be carried out with a simple working method, a removal of the connector is eliminated, its workability is remarkably improved, a productivity of building structure is improved, an instantaneous breakage caused by earthquake and the like is prevented and a remarkable anti-disaster effect is attained. The connector (1) of the present invention is comprised of the rod-like member (2), one or two arcular convex walls (8) cooperatively connected to one end of the rod-like member (2) in a longitudinal direction, the hollow part (3) formed from one end to the other end of the rod-like member (2), the insertion hole for fixing member (9) formed at the convex walls (8), and a hollow branch pipe (12) fixed to or removably engaged with the opening of the hollow part (3) at the other end of the rod-like member (2).
Abstract: A memory device can include a radiation hardened, static random access memory (SRAM) cell having a first inverter pair including a first PFET and a first NFET coupled in series drain to drain by a resistor whose resistance can be an order of magnitude (i.e., ten times) larger than the source to drain resistance of the first PFET, a second inverter pair including a second PFET and a second NFET coupled in series drain to drain by a resistor whose resistance can be an order of magnitude larger than the source to drain resistance of the second PFET, the first or second PFET can include a P+ drain difflusion in an NWELL where a portion of the gate can overlie the P+ drain diffusion, a first pass gate PFET coupled to the gate of the first PFET, the gate of the first NFET, and the P+ drain diffusion of the second PFET, and a second pass gate PFET coupled to the gate of the second PFET, the gate of the second NFET, and the P+ drain diffusion of the first PFET.
Abstract: A method for hydroforming a metallic tube comprising primary hydroforming and secondary hydroforming, wherein in the primary hydroforming step, the metallic tube is formed such that a circumferential length of an expanded portion of the primary-hydroformed tube as measured at a wall center region of the expanded portion becomes substantially equal to or slightly shorter than a circumferential length of an expanded portion of a product as measured at a wall center region of the expanded portion, and in the secondary hydroforming step, movable pads incorporated in the dies press the expanded portion formed through primary hydroforming so as to finish the cross-sectional profile of the expanded portion into that of the expanded portion of the product, and said primary hydroforming and secondary hydroforming are continuously performed within the dies. Also disclosed is an apparatus for performing the hydroformation method.
Abstract: A key and insert assembly is designed for the identification of keys or key blanks. The key is provided with a slot through the key head which is oriented in a plane parallel with the face of the key head. A window through the key head intersects the slot. The slot is designed to receive a thin insert made of synthetic resin and the window area allows a portion of the insert to be displayed. Information regarding the key or other codes may be printed on the insert region which is displayed. In a preferred embodiment, the insert is retained in the slot by a snap-fit arrangement.
Abstract: A method of fixing a tubular metal member in an aperture which comprises, locating the tubular metal member in the aperture and deforming the 10 metal of the tubular member to expand to extend within the confines of said aperture, which may be formed in masonry. A method of fixing two tubular metal members one to the other, is disclosed, which comprises locating a first tubular metal member (10) through a transverse aperture (12) in a second tubular metal member (11) and deforming the metal of the first member (10) to expand (13) to extend within the longitudinal passage of the second member (11) at the location of the transverse aperture (12) therethrough. A tool for carrying out the method is also disclosed.
Abstract: A digital signal processing system for multiplexing/demultiplexing a large number of closely spaced FDM channels in which sub-band definition filtering divides the FDM spectral band comprised of "N" channels into "K" sub-bands in order to reduce the dimension of the polyphase filter fast Fourier transform structure required to complete the multiplexing/demultiplexing. This reduces the order of the required prototype filter by a factor proportional to K. The number of sub-bands K is chosen so that it is large enough to ensure the polyphase filter, fast Fourier transform structure for each sub-band is realizable within a finite word length, fixed point arithmetic implementation compatible with a low power consumption. To facilitate efficient sub-band definition filtering, the real basebanded composite signal is inputted at a spectral offset from DC equal to one quarter the FDM channel bandwidth for the N channels and the signal is sampled at a frequency 50% greater than the applicable Nyquist rate.
Abstract: An anchoring device for a conventional folding chair employs a longitudinal rod and two brackets attached to a vertical support member. A retention element on the chair's backrest engages the rod and allows for slidable movement. The rear legs of the chair are pivotally attached to brackets at or near the floor. The arrangement allows the chair to be open and closed and while retained against a wall.
Abstract: In a sprinkler effectiveness testing system, a fire plume to simulate a burning warehouse commodity storage array is generated. The sprinkler system to be tested is suspended from an adjustable ceiling. Thermocouples measure the temperature of the fire gases under and adjacent to the ceiling. Collection pans are positioned to collect sprinkler water passing through the plume and to separately collect the sprinkler water passing around the plume.

Abstract: A weather monitoring, measuring and reporting system which uses unattended, high-resolution digital cameras and laser rangers to both measure and display weather conditions in a local region, such as the region surrounding an airport. Visibility is estimated by processing images in the camera's field of view at known range distances. The light response of the camera is matched to the light response of the human eye. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the camera generates a digital pixel image of range objects; that is, prominent terrain objects such as, buildings, water towers, etc. in the camera's field of view. The digital pixel values of these range objects are stored in system memory at known address locations. The contrast between an average background pixel value in a region adjacent to an object and the average object pixel value is used to determine if the object is visible.

Abstract: A computer system referred to as a Database Management System with Nested Time Axes (DBMS with NTA), which cooperates with a Computed Medical File and Chart System (CMFCS), employs data processing techniques to solve problems related to data collection and analysis in daily medical practice. It reconstructs irregularly or regularly collected data and places it into a database table with a standardized time axis acceptable for the CMFCS. Multiple records of an original database at irregular intervals are correlated to a progeny database with a standardized time axis by averaging, maximizing and minimizing. The DBMS with NTA consists of several database tables, each of which has a relational time axis, and corresponding programs to reconstruct a root database table to a progeny database table in hierarchical order.
Abstract: A ratchet wrench includes a handle, a housing attached to said handle, a ratchet gear mounted for rotation in said housing, the ratchet gear having an axis of rotation extending through the housing, and means connected to the ratchet gear for turning a threaded fastener. A pawl is mounted on the handle about a pivot axis that extends through the handle, the pawl pivoting among a first position in which the pawl permits unrestricted rotation of the ratchet gear, a second position in which the pawl engages the ratchet gear to prevent rotation of the ratchet gear in one direction, but allows rotation of the ratchet gear in the opposite direction, and a third position in which the pawl engages the ratchet gear to prevent rotation of the ratchet gear in the opposite direction, but allows rotation of the ratchet gear in the one direction. A method for turning a threaded fastener is also included.
Abstract: A rotor is comprised of laminations forced on a shaft that has two staking rails, which penetrate the laminations and create two holding points. The two staking rails are positioned on the shaft at an angle to force the lamination toward the center of the shaft and force it hard against a flat on the shaft. This assembly provides for "zero" rotational movement without additional steps in the manufacturing process. An additional feature of the assembly is that the flat on the shaft relates to flats on the rotor to which the permanent magnets are attached, and a flat on the shaft for mounting an encoder, which flats are all in the same plane. This allows the motor to be easily aligned, which is a requirement to properly phase motor rotation to motor commutation.
