  • Patent number: 7706685
Abstract: An optical network system, including multiple nodes, an optical switch, and a switch controller, is configured to achieve communication in the optical domain. Each node is configured to receive both high frequency and low frequency inputs, generally utilized for handling data and addressing information, respectively. The two types of information are combined to create an amplitude modulated optical signal. Subsequently, the two types of information are separated by examining the optical power average of the signal being transmitted. Using one portion of the signal for addressing information, the switch controller can perform necessary routing and arbitration functions. Appropriate communications can then be sent back to the nodes and the optical switch to achieve the necessary configuration. The protocol utilized allows for subsequent arbitration and data transmission cycles, allowing the system and switch controller to configure transmission paths and arbitrate any communication issues.

  • Patent number: 7699009
Abstract: A seed singulator for use with a vacuum disk having a seed face and a shoulder. The seed singulator has a first member and a second member supported by biasing members. The first member has upper lobes disposed at a radius of curvature slightly less than the outside radius of a row of apertures on a seed plane of the vacuum disk. The seed member has lower lobes disposed at a radius of curvature slightly greater than the inside radius than the row of apradius. The biasing members permit the lobes to move with the seed plane and the shoulder as the vacuum disk rotates thereby maintaining their position with respect to the apertures.

  • Patent number: 7698167
Abstract: Systems and methods are described which produce a catalog from a previously existing database. The method defines catalog data fields and links same to the data fields of the database. In one embodiment, the method scans the database for its dat fields and automatically uses same as the catalog data fields. This improves the efficiency of catalog production because a publisher need not be trained as to what data is in the database. The method further automatically formats the data from the data base into a catalog. In another embodiment, the method automatically produces a table of contents and an index. The present method can produce the catalog in multiple formats, including electronic, portable document format, rich text format, and printed.

  • Patent number: 7653305
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to an optical transport system and device that conserves power, provides for efficient transport of photonic signals and is capable to accommodate a number of different nodes. The system and device are implemented with the major components at the nodes to provide easy maintenance. In a first aspect, the disclosure is directed to an optical transport system that provides for low power and efficient transport of photonic signals. The optical transport system can be implemented with a plurality of similar or identical network interface units that correspond with each node of the system. Also disclosed is an optical transport system architecture having an example architecture that includes a primary system and a secondary system, which is redundant to the primary system and is adapted to be operational when the primary system is inactive, or an example architecture that includes just a primary system.

  • Patent number: 7647753
Abstract: A header height control system and a method for improving the responsiveness of a header height control system. A height sensor is disposed with respect to the header to generate a signal varying in magnitude with respect to changes in distance between a preestablished point on the header and the ground. The magnitude of the generated signal when the header is at a predefined set point is determined. For generated signal magnitudes indicating the header is below the set point, the signal magnitudes are operably modified by applying a gain value. For generated signal magnitudes indicating the header is above the set point, the signal magnitudes may be modified by applying a different gain value. The application of a gain value or different gain values depending on the height of the header above or below the set point improves the responsiveness of the header height control system to changes in terrain.
