Abstract: A keratome for performing corneal resectioning which functions without a need for a surface against which to press the subject cornea during surgery, facilitating access for the surgeon and reducing or eliminating mechanical part rubbing near the surgical site. The keratome has a positioning ring to position an eye with the cornea protruding through and restrained by the ring. A blade is preferably suspended from its ends by a blade support which is driven by a drive mechanism, and a guide is disposed substantially parallel to the blade. The blade describes a forward path above and at a controlled distance from the positioning ring while also oscillating laterally. A guide may be disposed parallel to the blade edge to control resectioning thickness. Drive control and vacuum for the positioning ring are provided under user command by a control unit having user inputs.
Abstract: A prefabricated relief form member for use as an architectural feature on a structure formed alternatively by use of welded wire mesh, double wire welded wire mesh, corner beads fixed together, or woven wire mesh and optionally using corner beads at the corners of the top and sides, and having backing paper.
Abstract: Imaging apparatus and method which uses change of polarization state of a light beam passed through a total internal reflection structure by a single reflection at a TIR surface in which a specimen is placed in the evanescent field associated with the total internal reflection of the light beam, the specimen being the subject of biological, chemical or genetic investigation.
Abstract: A system and method for preparing a plastic bag especially useful for carrying electronic products by extruding spaced apart ribs onto the interior surfaces so that the bag volume is greater, so that a greater amount of VCI or anti-static material can be carried in the bag volume and providing greater surface area for outgassing of the VCI into the bag interior. The ribs also facilitate insertion of items into the bag and prevent clinging of the bag interior surface to flat portions of the product carried therein.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for imaging biochip spots in which a linearly spaced array of micro-lenses has a set of optical fibers which are associated with each micro-lens to receive and transmit the image magnified by the micro-lens. The micro-lenses are spaced to that of the biochip spots so that the microlens array can be positioned over a selected group of biochip spots, one for each micro-lens. The microlens array can be translated to be over selected groups of biochip spots. A detector and user devise such as a computer and a screen are used to record and view the collected images.
Abstract: A method and mixture for denitrifying aerobic bacterial compositions and for aerobic methods for biological treatment of aqueous systems polluted by nitrogen waste products.
A mixture of and limited to bacillus bacteria are added to the treatment subject.
Optionally enzymes can be added to the mixture.
Optionally a particulate carbon ingredient can be placed into the treatment subject.
Optionally a living tissue ingredient can be used.
Abstract: A plastic floor drain for use with a floor sink in which a thin lip is provided around the outside of an upper edge to provide good engagement with the sides of the floor sink to prevent leakage between the sides of the floor sink and the sides of the floor drain. Also, in order to provide controlled nesting, a recess and interacting tabs are provided to control the depth of nesting. An alternative structure to provide controlled nesting is a recess in each side that provides an inside projecting surface on which an upper filter basket floor rests.
Abstract: A porous glass rod is treated to include tungsten oxide and palladium in an arrangement that is sensitive to hydrogen to produce a color change that is a function of the hydrogen concentration. The rod is attached to the tip of a double fiber into one of which light is launched by a light source. A detector at the end of the second fiber is responsive to light reflected by the rod. The process for forming the rod includes the steps of doping the glass with a tungsten compound and a palladium compound with intervening and subsequent heating steps to bond the tungsten oxide and palladium to available oxygen atoms of the porous glass.

Abstract: A method of repairing a crack in a windshield where the crack has an open portion in which the repair resin selected for use is at minimum specified at 200 c.p.s.; and in another embodiment has a maximum of 1,000 c.p.s. and in another embodiment has a viscosity of over 1,000 c.p.s.
Abstract: A broadhead type arrowhead having a plurality of blades mounted on a body in which the blades each have a forward facing extension which are received in openings in a tip assembly. The tip assembly has a washer having apertures in which the blade extensions are received.
Abstract: A method of repairing windshields which are below room temperature, in the range from about 65.degree. F. to about 40.degree. F. repaired by using a resin whose viscosity ranges from a high end of a range of about 700 c.p.s. to about 400 c.p.s. to a low end of a range of about 150 c.p.s. Also, when the windshield is below about 40.degree. F., the method uses a first low viscosity resin of 10-100 c.p.s. and a second resin from about 150 c.p.s. to about 700 c.p.s. Also, when the crack is a floater, the resin is in the range from about 100 c.p.s. to about 90 c.p.s. and is heated prior to or during injection into the crack.

Abstract: A method for authenticating a subject painting as to a particular artist by comparing brush marks between one or more known works of the artist and the subject painting.
Abstract: An electronic compass system and method in which an automatic calibration process is available while the vehicle is in use. The procedure uses a binning process to collect and count data points which automatically triggers the automatic calibration process, and which is also used for manual calibration. Also, there is a procedure for detecting and rejecting anomalous magnetic events outside the vehicle through a jitter phenomenon.
