  • Patent number: 7986641
Abstract: A multicast data communication system is provided that has high security, and prevents problems such as an attack by a malicious user creating a great number of meaningless tables at nodes in the network. Clients regularly transmit request packets toward a server; a node receives the request packet, and subsequently receives a delivery-table-creation packet or a delivery packet from the server; if the node has no delivery table corresponding to the server, the node creates the delivery table, registers the addresses of the clients, and their request packet arrival times, and regularly transmits the request packet toward the server; when the node has received a delivery packet from the server, the node duplicates and delivers the delivery packet only to those clients whose request packet arrival times, registered in the delivery table, are within a fixed period from the arrival of the delivery packet.

  • Patent number: 7976609
Abstract: A method for manufacturing metal nanorods includes: a step of adding a reducing agent to a metallic salt solution; a step of radiating light into the metallic salt solution containing the reducing agent; and a step of leaving the light-radiated metallic salt solution containing the reducing agent stationary in a dark place so as to grow metal nanorods. Metal nanorods can be also grown by forming a mixed solution by fractionating the above light-radiated metallic salt solution and mixing the fractionated metallic salt solution into a non-radiated metallic salt solution containing the reducing agent, or mixing a non-radiated metallic salt solution and the reducing agent into the above light-radiated metallic salt solution; and leaving the mixed solution stationary in a dark place so as to grow metal nanorods.

  • Patent number: 7977837
Abstract: A rotary body used in an energy storage device and capable of storing a large amount of external energy is provided in an energy storage device that stores external energy as the energy of the rotary motion of the rotary body for which the frictional resistance of the bearing parts has been reduced to a high degree using the fishing effect of superconductivity. The rotary body is used in an energy storage device capable of storing energy by rotating the rotary body for which the frictional resistance of the bearing parts having floating support that makes use of the fishing effect of superconductivity has been made very small. The rotary body is made of CFRP, and the required compressive stress is applied to it in the direction opposite to the centrifugal force of the rotary body when rotating. The rotary body has a bar-like structure elongated in the direction of the centrifugal force when the rotary body rotates.

  • Patent number: 7979390
Abstract: A method for realigning a database server and a client database is provided. During realignment at least one table of the database server is copied to a workspace, and a set of records copied to the workspace is identified that are associated with the client. The set of records associated with the client are modified and can include a subset of records newly associated with the client. An association-rule is created that defines the modified set of records as accessible by the client and includes an effective time. The association-rule and the newly associated records are distributed to the client, preferably during database synchronization. At the effective time, the modifications to the workspace records are made effective on the server and activated on the client. Optionally, the association-rule and the newly associated records are distributed in response to receiving approval of the modified set of records.

  • Patent number: 7974398
Abstract: Connecting a caller with a plurality of destinations using a destination list received from a caller or a designated user. Attempts are made to connect the caller with each of the destinations in the stored destination list, with each attempt including a connectability query to determine whether either the caller or the destination is connectable. Thereafter, the other party is called and offered a connection attempt to the first party. If the second party accepts, a call is made to the first party. If the first party is indeed connectable and answers the call, a connection is established between the two parties. Once the destination list is stored, attempts to connect the caller with each destination can be separately initiated or paused. Furthermore, the stored destination list can be edited even after connection attempts have been initiated.

  • Patent number: 7968063
Abstract: A mercury removal apparatus for a liquid hydrocarbon includes a conversion device which converts a mercury component in a raw liquid hydrocarbon into elemental mercury to obtain a first liquid hydrocarbon containing the elemental mercury. The apparatus also includes a first stripping device which brings the first liquid hydrocarbon into counter-current contact with a first stripping gas, thereby transferring the elemental mercury in the first liquid hydrocarbon to the first stripping gas to obtain (i) a second liquid hydrocarbon in which the amount of the elemental mercury decreases and (ii) a first gaseous hydrocarbon containing the elemental mercury.

  • Patent number: 7970823
Abstract: System and method for sharing data objects among applications. A portion of the data messages includes data objects. A client library is coupled to a requesting application. A client library requests data objects of a data-object set. Requests from the client library are received and parsed by a set of code (SOC) that performs tasks so as to retrieve any matching data objects and cause the return of such matching data objects to the client library. A registration module registers subscriptions from or on behalf of the applications and an event notification module compares a data object in an event message with the subscriptions and notifies the subscribed applications in response. The system can respond to requests in either a query or a procedure call format.

  • Patent number: 7970107
Abstract: A method and system for providing a call completion service for a call between a caller and a destination over a network. Outgoing and Incoming call profiles, identifying enabled call completion services, are associated with callers and destinations, and are retrieved from a database based on the particular caller and destination. The caller and destination profiles are compared to select the appropriate call completion service for the call. In the absence of retrieving an outgoing call profile and an incoming call profile, a default profile can be generated and associated with the respective party to enable determination of the call completion service. The determination is made, at least in part, on the basis of a common call completion service identified as being enabled in both the OCP and the ICP. Additionally, a hierarchy of call completion services can be further considered in the determination of the call completion service.

  • Patent number: 7964438
Abstract: A method is described of forming a film of an amorphous material on a substrate by deposition from a plasma. The substrate is placed in an enclosure, a film precursor gas is introduced into the enclosure, and unreacted and dissociated gas is extracted from the enclosure so as to provide a low pressure therein. Microwave energy is introduced into the gas within the enclosure to produce a plasma therein by distributed electron cyclotron resonance (DECR) and cause material to be deposited from the plasma on the substrate. The said flow rate of the film precursor gas is altered during the course of deposition of material, so as to cause the bandgap to vary over the thickness of the deposited material.

  • Patent number: 7959856
Abstract: Aluminum alloys and castings are provided that have excellent practical fatigue resistances. The alloy includes, based upon 100 mass %, 4-12 mass % of Si, less than 0.2 mass % of Cu, 0.1-0.5 mass % of Mg, 0.2-3.0 mass % of Ni, 0.1-0.7 mass % of Fe, 0.15-0.3 mass % of Ti, and the balance of aluminum (Al) and impurities. The alloy has a metallographic structure, which includes a matrix phase primarily of ?-Al and a skeleton phase crystallizing around the matrix phase in a network shape. The matrix phase is strengthened by precipitates containing Mg. Because of the strengthened matrix phase, and the skeleton phase that surrounds it, the castings have high strength, high fatigue strength, and high thermo-mechanical fatigue resistance.
