Abstract: The present invention relates to a photolabile compound including a coumarin family caging group covalently bound to an organic moiety containing a carboxyl group, an amino group, a sulfhydryl group, and/or a hydroxyl group. The photolabile compound, upon absorbing visible light, releases the organic moiety. Also disclosed is a method of making a photolabile compound that releases a biologically active compound upon absorbing visible light by providing an organic moiety and binding a coumarin family caging group to the organic moiety under conditions effective to make the photolabile compound. The present invention also relates to a method of obtaining a biologically active compound in a sample. The method involves adding to a sample a photolabile compound including a coumarin family caging group covalently bound to an organic moiety. The sample is then illuminated with visible light under conditions effective to obtain a biologically active compound including the organic moiety.

Abstract: A method, computer readable medium and system for capacity management and predictive planning includes monitoring one or more factors related to an overall load on at least one of one or more server systems and trending a rate of change of at least one of the one or more monitored factors. A determination on when to at least one of increase capacity in at least one of the servers systems and add one or more additional server systems is made based on the monitoring and the trending.
Abstract: A syringe (10) has a plunger (20), a barrel (11) and a collar (40, 50) with two pawls (42A, 42B). The plunger has two opposed ratchets (23A, 23B) that align with the one each of the pawls and thereby or impede, withdrawal of the plunger during or following depression of the plunger. The barrel has a collar with an inner (50) and an outer member (40) that are incapable of rotation relative with respect to each other. The outer member has the two pawls (42A, 42B) and two fingers that slidably engage opposed guide slots (28) on the plunger to thereby prevent or minimize rotation of the plunger relative to the collar. The inner member of the collar is operable to prevent engagement of the plunger ratchet by the two pawls until the plunger is depressed.

Abstract: A keeping cage for laboratory animals, specifically rodents, is characterized in that it provides for a large floor surface on several levels, the transit of animals from one level to the higher or lower level being ensured by the presence of appropriate openings in the partitioning floors. The keeping cage allows for the provision of a space available to animals, which is sufficiently large in terms of floor surface and in terms of height between the floors to ensure a good level of wellbeing for the animals, which do not therefore suffer from behavioral disturbances. Cage for keeping laboratory animals, specifically adapted to keep laboratory animals, particularly rodents, including a base body to which an openable lid is connected, characterized in that the lid features a port for accessing the inside without removing the lid.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an isolated Clostridial neurotoxin propeptide having a light chain region, a heavy chain region, where the light and heavy chain regions are linked by a disulfide bond, and an intermediate region connecting the light and heavy chain regions. Also disclosed is an isolated, physiologically active Clostridial neurotoxin produced by cleaving a Clostridial neurotoxin propeptide, a vaccine or antidote thereof, and methods of immunizing against or treating for toxic effects of Clostridial neurotoxins. Methods of expressing recombinant physiologically active Clostridial neurotoxins are also disclosed. Also disclosed is a chimeric protein having a heavy chain region of a Clostridial neurotoxin and a protein with therapeutic functionality. A treatment method is also disclosed.
Abstract: An apparatus has an antenna configured to receive transmitted digital data, wherein the data comprises circular polarity (CP) and linear polarity (LP) format signals. The apparatus also has a waveguide coupled to the antenna and configured to propagate: 1) a first component of the CP format signal which is received; 2) a second component of the CP format signal which is received, said second component being substantially orthogonal to said first component; and 3) the LP format signal which is received. The apparatus further has one or more phase adjusters configured to allow adjustment to be made to match a phase of the first and second components of the CP format signal. The apparatus also has one or more amplitude adjusters configured to allow adjustments to be made to match an amplitude of the first and second components of the CP format signal.
