  • Patent number: 4430963
Abstract: A system for generating a dry coal weight signal is provided, wherein the moisture content of a coal feed to a solid fuel burner is determined, and the dry coal weight calculated on that basis. Moisture content is determined by measuring density of the coal being fed and/or the torque required to drive a head pulley about which the belt feeding the coal is led at a constant velocity. The dry coal weight signal can be communicated to the drive means, whereby the belt speed is accelerated or decelerated to maintain a constant supply of coal, on a dry weight basis, to the boiler. Also disclosed is a control system employing the dry coal weight signal for a plurality of control functions.

  • Patent number: 4403399
Abstract: In a memory array wherein each cell includes an emitter follower, a diode is formed on the emitter by a thin layer which is capable of being shorted by vertical migration of bit line atoms through the layer and into the emitter region. The thin layer is fabricated by epitaxially growing the thin layer over the wafer with the emitter diffusion aperture open, oxidizing the epitaxial layer, selectively removing portions of the polycrystalline epitaxial layer and removing the oxide from the remaining epitaxial layer in the emitter diffusion aperture.

  • Patent number: 4402534
Abstract: A lock having a first portion for engaging a first coupling and in concert with a shoulder of a second portion to lie in the plane of the lip of a second coupling inhibits uncoupling rotation. A third portion of the lock for engaging the first coupling maintains the shoulder in the plane and the lock is further maintained in position by a fourth portion engaging both couplings. The first and third portions are in substantially the same plane for ease of insertion of the lock.
