  • Patent number: 4976005
Abstract: A cleaning tool for a fluid vacuum type of cleaning machine having a demand-responsive air port for an automatic determination of air as required by the degree of suction exerted at the perimeter of the cleaning head to the end that there is an adequate stream of air entrained into the cleaning tool such that the cleaning fluid therein is effectively dispersed for engagement with the surface or surface covering material to be cleaned and for the avoidance of over or under powering the suction of the lower perimeter of the tool when engaged with various surfaces and surface coverings.

  • Patent number: 4956947
Abstract: A steady beam is focused upon a target member located on a building structure. The target member moves with the deflection of the building structure and the movement of the target is communicated to a programmed controller which responds to the movement indicated by actuating tension adjusting members which are connected to an array of elastic steel rod-like tendons disposed adjacent the structure's main support members. The tension adjusting members are caused to apply tensile force to the tendons to counter the force causing the deflection of the structure and to inhibit the effect of the force on the structure's support members, thus diminishing the extent of deflection and dampening the oscillation of the structure which is incident to the restoration of the structure to a condition of equilibrium.

  • Patent number: 4881873
Abstract: A bilge pump switch sensing the presence of bilge water by measuring the density of water by using an ultrasonic field penetrating the water, the field extending through the housing of the switch. Thus the internal elements of the switch are isolated from any contact with the water. The ultrasonic field detecting the presence of water activates sensing means in said switch housing to activate the pump, delay means being provided against false pump starts due to wave action as caused by a rocking boat.
