  • Patent number: 4996041
Abstract: A diagnostic imaging agent is provided for use in conjunction with a magnetic resonance imaging system for the imaging of spacial oxygen distribution in tissue. The imaging agent is comprised of a complex of oxygen-17, a biologically acceptable liquid carrier, such as a perfluorinated compound, and an emulsifying agent, and wherein the agent has an average particle size of less than about 0.6 microns, and an ionic composition essentially equal to that of blood. Useful information can be obtained, and in certain instances, therapy administered, by a non-envasive imaging technique relative to tissue perfusion by .sup.19 F-NMR (imaging of .sup.19 F) and oxygen utilization by .sup.1 H-NMR (imaging of H.sub.2.sup.17 O as a metabolite).

  • Patent number: 4992187
Abstract: A formulated composition is disclosed which is designed to clean baked-on, carbonized sludges and varnish deposits from the upper cylinder surfaces of automobile, motorcycle and truck engines. The product is comprised of a mutually synergistic solution of selected cyclic compounds, aliphatic amines and water, preferably dissolved in a hydrocarbon or hydrocarbon and aliphatic lower alcohol fuel base, to which minor materials may optionally be added. The solution or base product may be placed in a pressure resistant (aerosol) container pressurized with a compressed gas, such as nitrogen gas. A preferred embodiment of the invention utilizes a synergistic solution of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, n.butylamine and de-ionized water, with these ingredients present at certain ratios. This solution is dissolved in either mixed iso-(C.sub.7, C.sub.8)-hydrocarbons or a combination of such hydrocarbons with a minor amount of isopropanol, to which up to about 10% by weight of other optional ingredients may be added.

  • Patent number: 4988022
Abstract: A card stock blank is convertible into a garment hanger shoulder guard which is storable in flat condition with no remaining assembly operations. The blank has base and top edges, a first fold line perpendicular to and extending from the base edge along a transverse line to a hole, and a second fold line extending from the top edge to the hole and making an obtuse angle with the top edge. The top edge is interrupted by a notch which communicates with the hole and has a first edge extending from the top edge to the hole and being a mirror image of the second fold line. The notch further has a second edge confronting the first edge. The blank is foldable into a flat condition with the first edge coinciding with the second fold line and material adjacent the first edge confronting material located between the second fold line and the second edge. The guard is made by affixing the confronting material to itself as by cement.

  • Patent number: 4980911
Abstract: Transient signal elimination circuitry is disposed in a local communications loop extending from a subscriber telephone to a telephone central office couples ringing and on-hook and off-hook signals through the loop after removing transients in these signals. The circuitry also isolates the telephone subscriber and central office from the local loop until an off-hook signal is detected and restores this isolation when an on-hook condition exists at the telephone subscriber. Transient signal elimination is accomplished with a CPU driven interface which detects undesirable transients such as a ringing or off-hook signal, and in response thereto generates a burst of double tone signal to alert connected equipment. In this manner, the local loop can be simultaneously used for both voice communications and a second information signal with each signal capable of occupying the same bandwidth. These signals can operate independently of each other.

  • Patent number: 4942984
Abstract: The present invention relates to a dispensing device comprising a housing containing at least three pressure chambers. The upper pressure chamber being separated from the middle pressure chamber by a reciprocating upper piston composed of a head and a stem. A lower piston is reciprocally positioned between the middle and lower pressure chambers such that pressurization of the lower pressure chamber exerts upward pressure on the lower piston and pressurization of the middle pressure chamber exerts downward pressure. The lower piston is fixed to a reciprocating rod which has a dispensing rod tip. The dispensing rod tip is slidably situated within a dispensing tube which has a tube opening for introduction of a dispensible material therethrough. The dispensing rod tip is reciprocatable between an upward, downward and intermediate position. In its upward position, a tube opening is non-occluded, thereby allowing the dispensible material to enter a dispensing tube.
