    Abstract: An aqueous acidic composition for providing improved corrosion resistance and improved paint adhesive to metals; e.g., ferrous, aluminum, or magnesium alloys; upon contact. The composition comprises a Group IV-A metal such as zirconium in an acidic solution with one or more oxyanions to stabilize and solubilize the metal while fluorides and organic solvents are specifically excluded from the composition. The coating is at a pH below about 5.0 and is preferably in a range between about 1.0 and about 4.0. The coating may contain surfactants, sequestering agents, or organic additives for improved corrosion protection and paint adhesion. The substrate may be treated by immersion, spray, fogging or rollcoat.

    Abstract: A mold core assembly for removable installation in a molding machine includes a first lock element attached to a core and a second lock element movably attached to a core retainer. The second lock element is movable between a locked position fitted in locking connection with the first lock element and an unlocked position separated from the first lock element. A slip ring surrounds the first lock element of the core, engaging and holding the second lock element in its locked position. A spring is connected between the core retainer and the slip ring, with the spring biased to oppose movement of the slip ring away from its locked position so that the core is normally held in its locked position in the core retainer.

    Abstract: A manifold assembly for supplying plastic material from a plastic source to a mold assembly in an injection molding machine includes a flexible manifold having an interior conduit connected between the plastic source and the mold assembly. The flexible manifold is configured to define an input connector, a first curved segment attached to the input connector, a second curved segment, an output connector attaching the second curved segment to the mold assembly, and an intermediary segment connecting the first and second curved segments. This provides the flexible manifold with a generally S-shaped configuration that flexes with temperature changes to maintain a substantially constant positioning between the input connector and the output connector, preventing thermally induced movement of the mold assembly with respect to the input connector as heated plastic is injected through the conduit.

At least one of the side wall and shoulder portions includes a plurality of generally vertical ribs spaced uniformly around a circumference of the bottle, each generally vertical rib having an upper and lower end and, in cross-section, a central portion situated at a first radius from the bottle axis and a pair of generally symmetric side portions leading to the bottle surface at a second radius from the bottle axis, at least one set of the upper and lower ends of the ribs terminating at a common height on the container.

    Abstract: A drinking cup having a body portion and a removably attached cover including an offset drinking spout and an offset vent aperture. The drinking spout and the vent aperture are each surrounded by wall members which depend generally away from an interior surface of the cover. An air inlet flow control valve is coupled to the wall member surrounding the vent aperture while a liquid outlet flow control valve is coupled to the wall member surrounding the spout. Each flow control valve includes a domed elastomeric member containing a slit allowing for passage of a selected fluid therethrough. The domed portions are each surrounded by a generally circular isolating channel, and outside of each isolating channel is a perimetral portion for connecting the flow control valve to the depending wall portion of the cover. Fluids passing through the slits achieve substantially only a one-way passage as the domed curvature substantially prevents any backflow.

A frame cooling unit coupled to the carriage engages the body portion of a set of parisons as they are released from the molding machine. A first motor moves the cooling apparatus to any of three preselected positions along the first dimension located outside the molding machine. A transfer assembly includes three sets of grabbers mounted on a gantry for movement with respect to the base. One set of grabbers grabs the finish portion of the parisons from the cooling apparatus.

    Abstract: A cap for use with an associated container comprises a measuring spout which is wholly contained inside the cap and does not protrude into the container. The cap comprises a cap wall which is adapted to provide an opening in which the spout is seated. The spout comprises a forward wall and at least one side wall which forms an open-topped hopper. The spout pivots between a closed, filling position and an open, dispensing position. The spout is formed from a visually translucent material, such as any of a number of commonly available plastics. Volumetric measuring indicia are disposed on an outer surface of the forward wall of the spout, thereby allowing a user to determine and adjust the desired volume of the material prior to discharge of the material from the spout. The cap is also provided with upwardly and inwardly tapered portions which guide the material into the hopper.

    Abstract: Pressure-sensitive adhesive labels are disclosed, as might be particularly useful for application with electrical cord sets. The label is utilized to provide long-term, cautionary information regarding the dangers associated with electrical cord sets. The surface area of the label exceeds the circumference of the cord set, thereby allowing the label to wrap about the circumference of the cord set and adhere to itself, while also securely attaching to the cord set. The label comprises a primary adhesive which features a high shear adhesion property. A paper liner is removed from the primary adhesive prior to application to the cord set. The primary adhesive is provided on a bottom surface of a facestock, which has a high tensile strength and is preferably formed substantially from a vinyl material. Preferably, the facestock is provided with plasticizers and is topcoated. Printing ink displays a cautionary message on the topcoated upper surface of the facestock.

A first molding element includes channels situated on opposite sides of the molded articles for receiving the article removing apparatus while the molding elements are in the closed conformation. A cam track is fixed to the first molding element and a cam coupled to article holders is engaged in the cam track to move the article holders elements from a position aligned with the channels toward engagement with the molded articles as the molding elements open.
