  • Patent number: 4916723
Abstract: In a method for slit radiography a fan-shaped X-ray beam scans a body to form an X-ray shadow image. The fan-shaped beam is formed by a number of sectors situated next to each other. For each sector the transmitted X-ray radiation is controlled instantaneously during a scan by means of controllable beam sector modulators. The X-ray radiation is cyclically modulated in a predetermined manner for all the sectors taken together. The controllable beam sector modulators are individually controlled to select cyclically and in synchronism with the predetermined cyclic modulation a part of the X-ray radiation for each sector.

  • Patent number: 4896041
Abstract: A dosimeter for ionizing radiation is of oblong shape. It comprises a gas-filled measuring chamber surrounded by a casing. THe casing is formed of two oblong frames of insulating material that are substantially similar in shape. The two frames are mounted on each other in a gas-tight manner. The anode wires are situated in the plane of separation between the frames and are secured by the frames in contact with each other. At least one of the frames is provided with a cathode over its whole length and parallel to the plane in which the anode wires are situated. Along the edge of the cathode extends a guard electrode which surrounds the cathode with a certain gap. The dosimeter is made of materials that are transparant to the ionizing radiation. It can be used particularly in slit radiography equipment in which the slitwidth can be controlled locally and independently along the length of the slit.

  • Patent number: 4893186
Abstract: Image pickup device comprising a matrix having horizontal rows and vertical columns of image pickup elements and having means supplying clock signals to the matrix of pickup elements in order to shift image information in the column direction in the time delay and integration mode. Along each column in image pickup elements at predetermined positions a determination is made of whether the charge at those positions exceeds a limit value. If so, the charge in such image pickup elements is removed completely and integration starts again. From the charge in the last element in a column as well as the number of times charge has been removed it can be deduced what the total charge would have been without removal. Thus images can be recorded the contrast ratio of which otherwise would exceed the maximum contrast ratio which the image pickup device is capable of recording.
