  • Patent number: 8305246
Abstract: A class D amplifier is configured to accept a digital input signal wherein the control loop of the class D amplifier employs a hybrid filter merged with the front-end of a sigma-delta ADC converter. The term hybrid refers to the filter using both digital and analog components in which the digital delay elements serve as shift registers while the filter coefficients are analog. The filter converts the digital PDM data into a step-wise sinusoidal signal. The sigma-delta ADC receiving a feedback signal subtracts the step-wise sinusoidal signal from the continuous sinusoidal signal and converts the result to a digital PDM signal, without decimation, which passes through a digital filter, a PWM generator, and a pre-driver, to provide power to the load.

  • Patent number: 8305831
Abstract: An SRAM includes circuitry configured for the SRAM to operate at different operation modes using different voltage levels wherein the voltage level and thus the supply current leakage is regulated based on the operation mode. For example, the SRAM, in a normal operation mode, consumes power as other SRAMs. In a deep sleep mode the supply voltage (e.g., VDDI) for the bit cell in the SRAM macro is lowered by about 20-40% of the SRAM supply voltage (e.g., VDD), sufficient to retain the data in the bit cell. When access to the SRAM is not needed, the SRAM operates in the sleep mode, consuming little or no power.

  • Patent number: 8298925
Abstract: The embodiments of methods and structures are for doping fin structures by plasma doping processes to enable formation of shallow lightly doped source and drain (LDD) regions. The methods involve a two-step plasma doping process. The first step plasma process uses a heavy carrier gas, such as a carrier gas with an atomic weight equal to or greater than about 20 amu, to make the surfaces of fin structures amorphous and to reduce the dependence of doping rate on crystalline orientation. The second step plasma process uses a lighter carrier gas, which is lighter than the carrier gas for the first step plasma process, to drive the dopants deeper into the fin structures. The two-step plasma doping process produces uniform dopant profile beneath the outer surfaces of the fin structures.
