  • Patent number: 4931195
Abstract: Lecithin or certain other phosphate esters are added to a non-aqueous liquid heavy duty laundry detergent composition in the form of a suspension of builder salt in liquid nonionic surfactant containing small amounts of low density filler, such as hollow plastic or glass microspheres to provide stabilization against phase separation and further containing a small amount of organophilic modified clay, such as a water-swellable smectite clay, in which the metal cations are totally or partially exchanged with mono- or di-long chain quaternary ammonium compound to provide a viscoelastic network structure. The lecithin reduces plastic viscosity and helps maintain the viscoelastic network structure over extended periods of time.

  • Patent number: 4929367
Abstract: An antistatic and fabric softening laundry wash cycle additive article includes an antistatic and fabric softening composition in a filtering container, from which a complex of cationic surfactant and anionic surfactant is released into the wash water through the filtering walls of the container. The particles of the released complex, the size of which are controlled by the sizes of the filtering openings in the container walls, are small enough so that they do not form objectionable greasy deposits on the laundry, such as often results when antistatic and fabric softening cationic surfactant is present with anionic surfactant in a detergent composition, or is added to the wash water with such detergent composition. The cationic surfactant may be present in the filtering container as a complex with anionic surfactant or in mixture with anionic surfactant, in particulate form.

  • Patent number: 4927555
Abstract: Process for making a thixotropic detergent slurry, particularly suitable for use in making compositions useful in household automatic dishwashers. A slurry of particles of alkaline water-soluble builder salt, particularly sodium tripolyphosphate, is formed in a liquid containing dissolved alkaline builder salt, such as alkali metal carbonate. The proportion of solid particles is so high that the slurry has a viscosity of about 20,000 to 60,000 centipoises. This viscous slurry is subjected to wet grinding with a high speed disperser. Water and powdered clay are then added and the clay is deagglomerated in the mixture by mechanical action. Improved compositions containing limited amounts of potassium compounds and water-soluble polymers are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4927058
Abstract: A package comprising, an elongated collapsible tube defining a chamber to receive a flowable material, with the tube having a tapered shoulder, and a hollow neck having an inner end extending from the shoulder, and an outer end. The shoulder normally causes flavor loss of the material in the region of the chamber adjacent the shoulder. The package has an insert comprising a tubular section having an outer end connected to the neck, and an inner end extending into the chamber a sufficient distance to prevent extrusion of the material in the region of the shoulder through the neck.

  • Patent number: 4923627
Abstract: A process for making hard, translucent, high moisture soap bars at 18-27% moisture. These soap bars are produced by varying the conditions of vacuum drying such that the crystalline structure of the soap remains small thereby producing better translucency of the soap pellets. These soap pellets that when compounded through conventional soap finishing equipment produce hard, machinable, high moisture, translucent soap bars.

  • Patent number: 4920664
Abstract: A foot support structure which is attached to a shoe so as to provide support to the medial arch of a foot in a longitudinal direction while acting as a supplement to the longitudinal fascia, ligaments and tendons of the foot is disclosed. The structure includes a sling strap which is most effective when employed with and anchored to a relatively flexible outsole. On the medial side of the foot, the sling pulls from a point just forward of the first metatarsal head. On the lateral side, the sling pulls from a point adjacent the posterior portion of the fifth metatarsal. The sling could also be anchored to transverse shoe components in the midfoot region. In one embodiment, the longitudinal support sling of the present invention includes a medial-lateral connector strap which extends across the top of the foot in the forefoot region and interconnects the medial and lateral sling portions proximate to the anterior portions thereof.

  • Patent number: 4920873
Abstract: A stackable, portable chafer assembly comprising a stack of chafter units in which a first lowermost unit has a frame which supports a water pan and the other units of the first unit nest within that pan in compact fashion. The frame of the first unit is designed to support one or more chafter units above it, with the frame of each successively higher unit resting on the frame of the next lower unit, whereby a compact stacked assembly is provided which saves substantially on storage space and which allows the plurality of units to be moved by a single person, avoiding the need to employ one person to move each one of the units.
