  • Patent number: 4998646
Abstract: A flexible self-standing pouch made from at least one layer of plastic material bonded to form a closed inner chamber for storing liquid. Peripheral portions of the wall material are contoured and then bonded to form a closed pouring spout at a corner of the pouch. The configuration of the spout is defined by the contour of the sealing in the vicinity of that pouch corner. The pouring spout is opened by cutting the pouch corner at an angle. The bonded peripheral edge has a generally rectangular contour except for an inwardly curved portion corresponding to a recess in the wall material, which recess partly defines the spout configuration. This recess has a maximum height which is greater than the maximum depth measured in a direction transverse to the direction along which the height is measured. Further, the recess may either begin at the top of the pouch or at a point along the side which is spaced from the top.

  • Patent number: 4999128
Abstract: A soil release promoting copolymer of poly(ethylene terephthalate/ethylene isophthalate) and poly(oxyethylene terephthalate/oxyethylene isophthalate) having a weight average molecular weight in the range of 6,000 to 40,000 is prepared by reacting an ethylene terephthalate/ethylene isophthalate copolymer with polyethylene glycol in the presence of a transesterification catalyst. The soil release promoting copolymer provides improved soil release properties for oil and greasy stains on polyester fabrics at high and low wash temperatures, is stable even at high alkalinity levels, and can be used at lower loadings than conventional soil release polymers without loss of efficacy.

  • Patent number: 4978232
Abstract: A flexible pouch formed from a single sheet of plastic material folded over upon itself along an umbrella like fold assembly to provide the opposed walls of a chamber for storing a product and an optional second sheet to form the bottom of the chamber. The walls and the bottom are sealed along their periphery to form the chamber. The pouch has a self-opening spout formed in part by the fold assembly which expands and springs open when the sealed end of the spout is cut off. The fold assembly not only provides a large spout opening, but also provides a spring force which keeps the spout open so that all the product may be emptied from the chamber.
