  • Patent number: 8297586
Abstract: A proportional control pneumatic cylinder as an air actuator device for a hydraulic pump valve having a valve spool moving in a bore in a valve housing. The device having an actuator housing attachable to the valve housing and having a bore carrying a piston coaxially secured to an end of the valve spool. The device provided with spaced openings in the actuator housing which communicate with the bore therein to introduce air to act on opposite sides of the piston, and factory pretensioned biasing means for normally urging the piston and spool to a center closed position. Surface areas on opposite sides of the piston are approximately equal so that piston movement is approximately proportional to movement of an actuating lever of an air supplying pneumatic control valve over the majority of the range of travel of the actuating lever for both raised and lowered positions.

A cutter body projecting from the distal end of the insertion member includes a slit that extends from the distal end toward a base edge. High-frequency electrodes are disposed along the sides of the slit. A feeding mechanism has rotating surfaces which are rotated as a result of being pressed by the tissue, and which feed the tissue toward the base edge of the slit. The rotating surfaces are provided by two rotary members disposed opposite each other along the two side edges of the slit, respectively, so that the first and second rotating surfaces move in a direction from the opening of the slit toward the base edge of the slit.

  • Patent number: 8275529
Abstract: A control unit 13 moves an engine throttle 15 to the wide open position whenever the driver wishes to decelerate. This maximizes the transfer of rotational energy from the vehicle wheels 6 to a flywheel 12 which is coupled to a drivetrain 7,8,9 because pumping losses in the engine 2 are much reduced due to the open throttle. The energy stored in the flywheel 12 can be used at a later time to supplement the engine's motive power. The control unit 13 also controls an electro hydraulic clutch 11 which couples and decouples the flywheel to and from the drivetrain through a continuous variable transmission (CVT) 10. The gear ratio of the CVT 10 is set by the ECU 13.

  • Patent number: 8269641
Abstract: A vehicle power management system (VPMS) controls a charging voltage of a battery in a vehicle, wherein a VPMS controller evaluates state-of-charge (SOC), battery temperature, and battery charging current to determine a charge mode. A rapid charge mode is used when the SOC is less than a first threshold, wherein the VPMS controller selects a target rapid charge voltage, compensates the target rapid charge voltage for the battery temperature, and transmits the compensated rapid charge voltage to the charging source. A normal charge mode is used when the SOC is greater than the first threshold and less than a second threshold, wherein a target normal charge voltage is selected and compensated which is less than the target rapid charge voltage. A trickle charge mode is used when the SOC is greater than the second threshold, wherein a target trickle charge voltage is less than the target normal charge voltage.

  • Patent number: 8270627
Abstract: An adaptive noise control system is deployed in a box-like structure positioned within the transfer path along which the noise is being transmitted from the source of the generated noise to the receiver of the noise in the passenger compartment of an automobile. The adaptive noise control system is can be deployed in the dual bulkhead of the vehicle dashboard to provide a constrained volume within which engine noise can be controlled. The adaptive control system generates a mathematical model of the noise to be controlled in response to the acoustic environment identified by sensors placed within the engine compartment. Sensors in the passenger compartment define the effectiveness of the noise control system. The controller is operable to update the mathematical model in response to the changes in the acoustic environment, thus providing the appropriate acoustic response within the dual bulkhead plenum for control of noise along the transfer path.
