  • Patent number: 7708421
Abstract: An illuminated article of adornment, such as jewelry, having a conductor loop, a magnetically connectable clasp housing a removable battery, and a medallion having internal light emitting diode (“LED”). The clasp consists of two magnetically connectable clasp components, at least one of which is adapted with an interior chamber for containing a battery power source. Each clasp component includes a vertex end connected to an electrical conductor, and a magnetically attractable base. At least one of the clasp components contains a magnet thereby allowing the clasp components to be magnetically connectable in base-to-base relation without requiring precise manual alignment. No further mechanical connection is required. Once connected the clasp completes an electrical circuit resulting in the illumination of an LED electrically connected to the necklace opposite the clasp portion. The LED is preferably connected to or embedded within a crystal to enhance the illumination effect.

  • Patent number: 7575490
Abstract: A passive air induction system for boats that includes a wedge member and air induction tubes. The system is installed within the propeller tunnel of high-speed planing vessels to reduce or eliminate noise and vibration caused by cavitation vortices created by rotation of the propeller blades. The air induction tubes include air inlets that receive ambient air, which is delivered to the wedge member to be released from a plurality of distribution slots on the wedge member as air bubbles. The air bubbles released from the distribution slots provide a cushioning effect against contact between the cavitation vortices and the vessel hull, thereby reducing vibration and noise that has been heretofore common at high speeds in planing vessels.

  • Patent number: 7575491
Abstract: A controller for an electric propulsion system for watercraft that provides for speed, steering and direction of propulsion with a single stick mechanism. The position of the joystick handle relative to the center position will define speed (deflection from center position), steering (angle position of the deflection relative to the stick access), and propulsion direction based upon the quadrant deflection in the angular position and the angle position of that deflection. The present control system includes an all electric wire connection between the controller and the electric motors eliminating any mechanical connections.

  • Patent number: 7565776
Abstract: A hurricane shutter escape mechanism for allowing fast and easy removal of conventional hurricane shutters from a window or door of a structure in the event of an emergency. The device comprises a release member, an anchor, a removable stud for engaging and securing the hurricane shutters, and a spring-actuated panel fastener that includes a leaf spring to engage and hold the removable stud in position. The release member includes a slot having a small aperture to hold the stud in position and a large aperture to release the stud from the anchor. From inside the building, the release member is pushed down to release the hurricane shutters so that the occupants of a structure can escape during an emergency, such as a fire. From outside the building, a rescuer can depress the leaf spring to remove the spring-actuated panel fastener, and thereby, also remove the hurricane shutter panel.

  • Patent number: 7560828
Abstract: A modular vehicle cable system for adapting military vehicles with the MILES 2000 Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System used by the United States Armed Forces and other armed forces around the world for training purposes is disclosed. A modular vehicle cable system is provided to allow the user the ability to troubleshoot, remove, and replace certain sections of the system quicker and easier than previously allowed. The design also allows for the installation of additional systems with only minor modifications. The modular vehicle cable system not only makes a cable system more reliable through inherent design, but also allows the user the ability to remove and replace a specific portion of a cable system without disrupting the other systems associated with a cable system. The modular nature of the cable system reduces maintenance and repair times by enabling rapid diagnosis and replacement of defective cable components and sections thereby maximizing training exercises by minimizing vehicle down time.

  • Patent number: 7543612
Abstract: A fuel vent recovery system for collecting and retaining fuel discharged through a fuel vent of a vessel. The system includes a hull-side fuel vent fitting, an annular elastomer seal, and a recovery container. The annular elastomer seal has an outer wall that is bifurcated by a groove to form two parallel annular flanges. The annular flanges and groove are fitted over and engage the wall of an aperture of the recovery container. The annular seal includes an inner wall that contacts a complementary seal interface surface of the fuel vent fitting. The annular seal is fitted around the fuel vent fitting. The recovery container is attached to the annular seal and thus sealed to the fuel vent fitting. The system prevents fuel discharged through the vessel's fuel vent from spilling into and contaminating the surrounding environment.

  • Patent number: 7530299
Abstract: A muzzle brake includes three primary structural components, namely a main body, a baffle, and an end cap. The components are preferably integrally fabricated into a single piece device, or alternatively may be fabricated separately and assembled. A muzzle brake in accordance with the present invention comprises a generally cylindrical muzzle brake assembly attachable to the muzzle end of a firearm. The muzzle brake assembly forms two expansion chambers, each of which is bounded by a peripheral sidewall defining opposing left and right vent apertures and a converging end wall. The end walls define axially aligned openings sized slightly larger than the diameter of the projectile for allowing the projectile to pass from the firearm muzzle, through the muzzle brake, and onward down the target line toward the intended target. The first chamber defines opposing left and right vent apertures for venting gases generally upward and rearward to reduce muzzle jump.
