  • Patent number: 7494073
Abstract: A fluid discharge apparatus adapted to discharge a cavitating stream of pressurized liquid along with the selective discharge of a secondary material, such as an abrasive, for removing dirt, debris, barnacles, marine growth, and other substances from submerged surfaces is provided. More particularly, the invention contemplates a introducing a pressurized liquid into a cavitation generating chamber to create and discharge a cavitating stream, and a secondary inlet for injecting abrasive material, such as silica, into the chamber to improve cleaning effectiveness. The gas bubbles within the cavitating liquid stream that essentially explode upon impacting debris resulting in tremendous pressure fluxuations provides improved effectiveness in removing debris and aquatic growth from the submerged surface. The combination of a secondary substance, such as an abrasive material, foam, or compressed gas enhances cleaning effectiveness.

  • Patent number: 7479727
Abstract: A roof system for a building is adapted to harness pyroelectric and piezoelectric effects to generate electric power. A roof system is provided wherein roof tiles, or other covering structure, are adapted with piezoelectric materials capable of converting mechanical energy from falling rain into electric energy by compression or deformation of the piezoelectric material, and further adapted with a pyroelectric system that generates electric power from temperature changes. The use of polyvinylidene fluoride, a material having both piezoelectric and pyroelectric characteristics, is discloses as a preferred material for accomplishing the goals of the present invention. The power generated supplies thermoelectric cooling systems that provide temperature conditioning of the building's interior space.

  • Patent number: 7448332
Abstract: A method and apparatus for burning material having a primary burner in the form of an elongated cylinder, the ends of the cylinder closed with stationary end walls. The cylinder is rotated about its longitudinal axis which is horizontal. A ram material inlet is provided in one end wall for compressing and feeding material into the cylinder. An air inlet conduit introduces air into the cylinder to promote burning of the material in the cylinder as the cylinder rotates. The combustion cylinder is maintained by an exhaust fan and air control valves at a pressure below atmospheric. A secondary afterburner is provided adjacent the primary burner that receives combustion gases from the primary burner. A cyclonic separator is positioned downstream of the gases burned in the afterburner. A programmable logic controller connected to air valves and sensors monitors the combustion process to sustain maximum combustion efficiency at temperatures above 1700 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Patent number: 7441917
Abstract: An illuminated jewelry article having a conductor loop, a magnetically connectable clasp housing a removable battery, and a medallion having internal light emitting diode (“LED”). The clasp consists of two magnetically connectable clasp components, at least one of which is adapted with an interior chamber for containing a battery power source. Each clasp component includes a vertex end connected to an electrical conductor, and a magnetically attractable base. At least one of the clasp components contains a magnet thereby allowing the clasp components to be magnetically connectable in base-to-base relation without requiring precise manual alignment. No further mechanical connection is required. Once connected the clasp completes an electrical circuit resulting in the illumination of an LED electrically connected to the necklace opposite the clasp portion. The LED is preferably connected to or embedded within a crystal to enhance the illumination effect.

  • Patent number: 7438336
Abstract: A storm shutter stud fastening mechanism that includes a quick release for fast and easy removal of conventional storm shutters from a window or door from the inside of a structure in the event of an emergency by allowing occupants of the building to manually disengage a fastening stud from an anchor. The stud mechanism includes an anchor body that receives an actuating arm having prongs at one end that engage and fasten the stud to the anchor body. However, when the arm is when rotated or pivoted from one side to the other, the engaging prongs are spread by stops inside the anchor body, thereby expanding the prong distance, releasing a stud secured between them.

  • Patent number: 7435148
Abstract: A hydrostatic release for securing an emergency position indicating radio beacon (EPIRB) to a shipboard surface to withstand high G-forces while having a release mechanism that if the ship were to sink will release the EPIRB at a pre-determined water pressure which is equivalent to depth of water. The hydrostatic release includes two shafts mounted end to end and clamped together under spring pressure by a slide that can be moved by a water pressure sensitive diaphragm when the hydrostatic device is underwater and experiences a pre-determined water pressure. The elongated shaft is connected at one end to an EPIRB housing and at the other end to the EPIRB housing cover. Once the cover is released by the water pressure, the EPIRB will float to the ocean surface.
