Abstract: A multi-lumen biliary catheter in which at least one of the lumens (14, 16) has a side opening port (24, 26) configured to guide a guidewire (32) out of that port at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the catheter. Radiopaque marker bands (34) having different lengths are placed on the distal end of the catheter adjacent the distal openings to facilitate fluoroscopic identification of the distal end orientation in the biliary tract.
Abstract: A transaction terminal includes a housing, a touch screen, a card reader, an imaging module, and a decode circuit coupled to the imaging module. The imaging module in one embodiment is disposed in the housing so that an imaging axis extends rearward of the housing. In a typical use of the terminal a store clerk can easily move objects into a field of view of the terminal. The transaction terminal can be coupled to a POS network which remotely sends a trigger signal actuating the imaging module when an age-proof-require product is being purchased.

Abstract: An off-track duty measurement unit measures off-track detection sensitivity on the basis of an off-track signal, and track cross cycle information that is obtained from a tracking error signal measured by a track cross cycle measurement unit, whereby off-track detection sensitivity can be measured more accurately. Further, an off-track detection sensitivity controller changes the detection sensitivity of an off-track signal detector according to the obtained off-track detection sensitivity, whereby the off-track sensitivity can be kept constant for various kinds of discs, and accordingly, stabilities of off-track detection, track pull-in judgement, and track jumping can be secured.
Abstract: A charging system which enables a customer to select an access method from plural kinds of access service including access service with advertisements, when the customer uses the Internet. Internet access information, and information on a method for displaying information for charging and a charging method associated with Internet access are transmitted to an information terminal (101) of the customer, from a terminal server (105) to which the information terminal (101) is connected through modems (102), (104) and a public network (103). The customer selects desired information from the transmitted information.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining the sufficiency of the refrigerant charge in an air conditioning system by use of temperature measurements. The temperature of the liquid refrigerant leaving the condenser coil and the outdoor temperature are sensed and representative electrical signals are generated. The electrical signals are converted to digital values that are than compared to predetermined optimal values to determine whether the system is properly charged with refrigerant. An appropriate LED is lighted to indicate that the system is undercharged, overcharged or properly charged. For non-TXV/EXV systems a third parameter i.e. the return air wet bulb temperature is also sensed and a representative digital value thereof is included in the comparison with the predetermined known values to determine if the charge is proper.

Abstract: The invention features a system and method to automatically focus an image reader using a single frame of image data. The method comprises exposing sequentially a plurality of rows of pixels in the image sensor. The method further comprising varying in incremental steps the focus of the image reader's optical system from a first setting where a distinct image of objects located at a first distance from the image reader is formed on the image sensor to a second setting where a distinct image of objects located at a second distance from the image reader is formed on the image sensor. As part of the method, the varying of the focus of the optical system occurs during the exposure of the plurality of rows of pixels.
Abstract: A system for capturing and neutralizing HAP's (hazardous air pollutants) and VOC's (volatile organic compounds) at the source point by providing a closed loop remediation system which utilizes an air collection, treatment and control module containing a predetermined size bay of multiple interchangeable mini-biofilter cartridges that function to consume the pollutant and recirculate remediated air back to the source point of the pollutant. The system includes establishing a closed loop air system at a work station which generates and emits VOC's, capturing the VOC's in the air stream flow and transporting them directly into an adjacent biofilter module which contains selected microorganisms in mini-cartridges which biodegrade said VOC's and recirculates remediated air back to the source point of the pollutant. The cartridges may be contained in modules in single and/or multiple widths and heights and in conjunction with various work stations, cabinets, receptacles, and tables.
Abstract: A device for processing image data relating to bar codes is described. In one embodiment a bar code verification device is provided having an ergonomic form factor characterized by a domed hand held trigger and a viewing window. The verification device may be disposed in a network that includes a host processor system and other bar code reading devices which may include other bar code verification devices. Processing circuitry for processing image signals corresponding to printed bar codes may be partially disposed within the hand held verification device and partially disposed within a host processor system spaced apart from and associated with the hand held verification device. The hand held verification device may be in wireless communication with the host processor system to which it is associated.

Abstract: A biosensor is provided with an area in which a reagent having bleaching action is carried in a state where it can be dissolved, at least in a part of a sample application area to which an inspection target solution is applied or the downstream of the sample application area in the direction of the inspection target solution permeating, in a development layer. In the so-constituted biosensor, a colored component in the inspection target solution can be faded by the bleaching reagent, so that the color in parts other than a reactive area is reduced in consequence, whereby a visual judgment is possible and a more accurate measurement result in which a reading error by a measuring device is extremely suppressed can be obtained.

Abstract: An optical reader, which is operable in a “host commands” mode and a “host routines” mode. In the “host commands” mode, the reader receives and executes a script routine module from a host. In the “host routines” mode, the reader receives a script routine Module identifier from the host, and the reader, in turn, executes a selected one of a plurality of reader-stored script routine modules based on the identifier.

Abstract: A playback unit (3) reproduces contents which are recorded on a video cassette tape (2), and a recording unit (6) records the contents on another video cassette tape (7) and, simultaneously, an erasing unit (5) erases the contents from the video cassette tape (2). Thereby, the copy-inhibited contents recorded on the video cassette tape (2) can be transferred to the other video cassette tape (7) without copying the contents.
