  • Patent number: 5020908
Abstract: An apparatus for the optical detection of cracks in transparent objects having several radiation sources and several groups of detectors which each have eight detectors. Each radiation impulse from one or more radiation sources may impinge on one or more groups of detectors and form an electro-optical channel independent of the others. The channels are switched on and off periodically one after the other. The sensitivity level of each group of detectors is individually programmable. The groups of detectors and the radiation sources are mounted on a stand so that they may be adjusted having a frame with holders. Light scattering is minimized by fitting the groups of detectors with shields. Such an apparatus can be relatively simply set up and adjusted and be simplified as a result of the separation of the electro-optical channels. The electronic switching permits a rapid, safe and automatic detection of flaws when a suitable microprocessor is employed.

  • Patent number: 5016854
Abstract: A spring is continuously acting on an upper part adjustable in the height by a spindle for compensating the weight of the vertical adjustable parts. An additional compensating spring acts over a piston on the upper part. By means of a screw which can be screwed in a threaded hole, the piston can be coupled with the base which is not displaceable in the height so that the effect of the additional spring is cut off. Many compensating springs can be provided which, at choice, can be rendered effective or ineffective in order to compensate for different weights.

  • Patent number: 5016690
Abstract: The dosing device is provided with a storage container (1), in which is located a shaft (3) under the filling height of the product (23). The shaft has at least one bore (5), in which a bilaterally operating piston (6) is depressed by a driven actuating shaft (10) which can be adjusted for length, which enables the desired dosing volume to be obtained. The product arrives into a container via a shut-off valve (8). During operation of this dosing device, the actuating system (10) is raised in the lowest position of the piston, as a result of which the bore is filled with product and the shaft turned by a switchgear motor (4) through 180.degree., after which the piston during its downward travel ejects the volume contained in the bore. This dosing device allows a high filling frequency, precise and simple adjustment of the volume of the individual dosing units, highly aseptic filling and easy cleaning.

  • Patent number: 5008489
Abstract: An electrical cable is provided wherein a conducting member is surrounded by an insulator. Around the insulator is a shielding element which is configured such that a pressure sensitive or heat fusible adhesive is placed on a top surface of the shielding tape in a parallel, nested serpentine pattern. The shielding tape is positioned so that it surrounds the insulator and has an overlap of its top surface with its bottom surface. Due to the parallel serpentine adhesive pattern between the top surface and the bottom surface in the overlap, an effective seal against moisture is achieved, independent of the width of the individual adhesive strips. Similarly, contact between the metallic portion of the top surface and the metallic bottom surface achieves a barrier to electrical and electromagnetic interference within the electrical cable. The serpentine adhesive layer also functions to securely connect the shielding tape to the insulator.

  • Patent number: 5003258
Abstract: The transducer comprises only a simple coil in which a core normally connected to a device the position of which is to be measured is displaced axially. The core comprises a rod of ferromagnetic material surrounded by a tube of good electrical conductivity but of small magnetic permeability. The coil is supplied by an alternating current producing eddy currents in the tube. The drop of sensitivity due to the increase of the resistivity of the tube with the increase of the temperature is compensated by the increase of the sensitivity due to the increase of the permeability of the rod with the increase of the temperature. The transducer is of light weight and of small dimensions and it is compensated in temperature in the temperature range comprised between -40.degree. C. and +20.degree. C.
