  • Patent number: 6588924
Abstract: In a display unit there is provided a front instrument panel (2) for inscription with symbols (9), which have an opaque portion (12) enclosed by a transparent portion (11), a so-called island. This opaque portion (12) is applied to a transparent backing (15) and fitted into an opening (13), made in the front instrument panel (2) to correspond to the contour of the symbol (9), at a distance from an edge region (20) of the opening (13). Use of the backing (15) makes it possible to dispense with connecting cross-pieces between the island and the front instrument panel (2). Furthermore, a process for producing the front instrument panel (2) intended for the display unit is provided, in which process firstly the opening (13) is made by punching and the backing (15) is formed by film-insert molding a transparent plastic behind the front instrument panel (2).

  • Patent number: 6584641
Abstract: A castor (1) has a securing device (V) for blocking running action and/or steering action of a wheel (2) mounted in a fork (3). A mounting of the fork (3) permits pivoting about a vertical axis (y—y). A push rod (11) operates an integrally formed combination part (K) located at the fork for providing functions of braking-blocking and/or steering blocking formation. The push rod (11) carries a plate (23) configured for interacting with fork-mounted steering-blocking and braking-blocking parts of the combination part (K), which has steering-blocking mating protrusions (25) and braking-blocking means (26), these being located in spaced-apart planes (E′—E′, E″—E″).

  • Patent number: 6584792
Abstract: In a method for driving an output stage by pulse-width modulation, which driving serves to supply a unit cooling the output stage during operation, at a higher temperature of the output stage a style of driving is performed which results in a low power loss in the output stage. At a lower temperature of the output stage driving is performed in such a way that the power loss is higher.

  • Patent number: 6586899
Abstract: In a circuit arrangement for switching on a power output stage, in particular for electric motors with a high current draw, the output stage and at least one buffer capacitor connected in parallel with it are connected to an operating voltage source via a relay. A current source which supplies a limited current is connected to the at least one capacitor, bypassing the relay. A delay device is provided, which does not switch on the relay until the at least one capacitor is charged to approximately the operating voltage by the current source.

  • Patent number: 6581566
Abstract: An intake passage of an internal combustion engine is divided into two intake passages downstream of a throttle valve. A tumble generating valve is disposed in one of these two intake passages. When the engine is stopped, the tumble generating valve is fully closed once and then opens by a specified opening angle. While the engine is inoperative, the tumble generating valve is held at that angle until the engine is started again.

  • Patent number: 6578415
Abstract: A limit-level sensor for measuring level of a liquid has a resistance element which has an electric resistance which suddenly varies a transition temperature which lies above the maximum liquid temperature. The resistance element is first of all heated by electric current. Thereupon, the electric resistance of the resistance element is measured. When the resistance element is covered with liquid, the heat generated by the electric current is led away so that the temperature of the resistance element is less than its transition temperature. If the resistance element is not covered by liquid, this heat is scarcely led away, so that the temperature of the resistance element remains above the transition temperature.

  • Patent number: 6578742
Abstract: A hand-lever-actuatable pump for spraying liquids comprising a pump piston which is displacable linearly counter to force of a compression spring in a pump cylinder in a housing, for spraying a liquid out of a mouthpiece nozzle, the pump piston being coupled to a hand-lever via a connecting pull member such that pivoting movement of the hand-lever pulls the pump piston in direction of liquid moving toward the mouthpiece nozzle. Starting from a rear side of the pump piston, the connecting pull member extends parallel to the pump piston displacement path in direction of the mouthpiece nozzle. On the rear side of the pump piston there is a hook-in slot which is located in direction of the pump piston displacement path, is open in direction of compressive force of a compression spring and is for a drive crosspiece of the connecting member.

  • Patent number: 6579070
Abstract: A pump assembly which comprises a vane pump and a second hydraulic pump driven together with this vane pump. The vane pump has a suction region in which first pressure spaces between the vanes and second, rear pressure spaces behind the vanes become larger and a pressure region in which the pressure spaces become smaller and in which the pressure spaces are fluidically connected to a pressure outlet. This vane pump is intended particularly for supplying operating cylinders of a hydromechanical transmission of a motor vehicle with pressure fluid under relatively high pressure. The second hydraulic pump has positively driven displacement elements and is intended for supplying a circuit having a relatively low system pressure, in particular a lubricating-oil circuit of the motor vehicle, with pressure fluid.

  • Patent number: 6575782
Abstract: A modular central electrical unit for motor vehicles, comprising an electrically insulating base body (1) having plug locations (3, 4), which are formed on the outer wall of the base body (1), for accommodating an electrical and an electromechanical functional unit, which plug locations are connected to one another and to a cable harness (10) and/or an electronic functional unit (11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 25). In a central electrical unit, which can be upgraded and/or modified without any additional space requirement, an electrical connection (5) which passes out of the base body (1) is such that it overhangs the base body (1), and a base body segment (8), which is formed from a plug body of a vehicle component (10) that is to be connected and is composed of insulating material, is mechanically attached to the base body (1), with the base body segment (8) and/or the fitted functional unit (14, 15, 25) being electrically connected to the electrical connection (5).

  • Patent number: 6571516
Abstract: A locking device for a vehicle door in which a handle unit fixed to a door outer panel and a door latch unit fixed to a door inner panel are prevented from making a substantial shift in their relative positions for the sake of normal operation even under sideways minor impacts or the like. A door latch reinforcement for fixing the door latch unit is fixed to the door inner panel. Handle stations, to which threaded portions of the handle unit are fastened, are formed by being bent in a handle mount opening formed in the door outer panel. The door latch reinforcement and the handle stations are connected to each other with a handle bracket. Since the door latch unit and the handle unit are connected to each other via the handle bracket, the two units make no substantial shift in their relative positions even under sideways minor impacts or the like, thereby allowing the normal operation of the door lock device even after the minor impacts.

  • Patent number: 6571553
Abstract: A hydraulic control arrangement for operating a winch with an adjustable hydraulic motor in the easing, hoisting and mooring modes. The arrangement comprises a pilot controller with a control lever which can be actuated as desired and can be deflected from a neutral position in opposite directions over a specific easing angle range and over a specific hoisting angle range. Previously, for the mooring mode, the control lever was blocked at a desired point in the hoisting angle range. The control lever, as viewed from the neutral position, can be deflected over a mooring angle range on the other side of the hoisting angle range, with increasing deflection of the control lever in the mooring angle range, the hydraulic motor being adjusted in the direction of a greater absorption volume and therefore in the direction of a greater torque and increased tension on the hawser.

  • Patent number: 6568355
Abstract: An engine generator includes an engine, a generator having a generating unit including an outer rotor and a stator, and a cooling fan disposed between the engine and the generator. The generating unit is housed within a fan cover which is provided for accommodating the cooling fan, the stator being mounted to the inner side of the fan cover. As the single fan cover encloses the generating unit, a reduction in the number of components and an improvement in water-proof performance are achieved. The stator can be separated and replaced simply by removing the fan cover without dismounting other components, whereby maintenance is facilitated and the number of working steps is reduced.
