Abstract: A washable air filter for removing particles from the inlet air to a heating and/or air conditioning system formed of an assembly of a central polymeric pad containing actively charged charge control agents of a first polarity, a polymeric net containing a dispersion of charged charge control agents of a second polarity in the polymer on each side of the pad and a stiff, deformable metal or plastic grill on each side of the net to form an assembly which can be corrugated and placed in a perimeter frame. The charging is preferably accomplished as the assembly passes over the surface of a roller with a conductive surface.
Abstract: A toe guard for an open toe sandal is presented. The toe guard is formed of a curved panel of rigid plastic extending around and over the front toe portion of the foot bed of the sandal and can have a base wall disposed between an upper innersole and a lower outersole.
Abstract: A sealing assembly for a rotatable shaft, comprising means to generate pressure differentials and temperature through pumping action and means to seal fluid, for example of the non-contact helical groove type. Sealing means are positioned outboard of pumping means. Fluid in liquid form is heated and depressurized on passage through pumping means of vortex or viscous shear type, thereby changed from liquid to gas. Gasified fluid is then sealed by sealing means for low leakage operation.
Abstract: Rotary barrier face seal of the non-contact type seal with helical grooves for a housing and a shaft, comprising means for introduction of an external barrier fluid towards the sealing interface. Said barrier fluid prevents sealed process fluid from entering past the sealing interface, thus providing sealing means for hazardous or repugnant fluids.
Abstract: A battery case for a battery containing swellable cellulose separators including case members having opposed undulating mating surfaces and a rim and groove sized to space the surfaces a predetermined distance apart to form a gripping channel such that the outer portion of a stack of dry separators occupies at least 80% but no more than 98% of said channel. On injecting liquid electrolyte into the case, the separators swell and are securely gripped by said undulations and mating surface.
Abstract: A brush for a voice prosthesis containing a reduced diameter hard cartridge disposed in the distal section of a soft outer body. The brush includes a reduced diameter distal brush section mounted in a rod having a distal end face larger than the diameter of the cartridge such that the extension of the end of the brush into the opposed esophageal wall is prevented.
Abstract: A dietary supplement is provided that comprises creatine combined with ginseng and astragalus and, optionally, glutamine. The dietary supplement enhances the general energy boost and muscular strength increase achieved from the consumption of creatine alone, while also increasing immune function.
Abstract: A popcorn maker, which utilizes a combination of popping means, and converts corn kernels to popped corn quicker, more efficiently, and with improved taste. The popcorn maker uses a combination of roasting, agitation, heating, and convection to convert the corn kernels into the popcorn, and expel the popcorn out of the popcorn maker. The popcorn maker is easy to use, the corn kernels and the popcorn easily viewable and fun to watch during popping, the popcorn maker producing the popcorn in a quick, convenient, and efficient manner. The popcorn maker discharges the popcorn from a convenient discharge chute into a receptacle of choice, resembles, and has the appearance of an old fashioned popcorn maker. The popcorn maker is free standing, easy to clean and maintain, and of long lasting, durable material. The popcorn maker is light weight, inexpensive, safe to use, attractive, sturdy, of simple construction., and is easy to store.
Abstract: A battery charging method and system, the battery charging method comprising: charging at least one battery at a first voltage for a first time duration; determining state of charge of the batteries at the end of the first time duration; if the batteries are substantially fully charged at the end of the first time duration, charging the batteries at the first voltage for a second time duration, and charging the batteries at a second voltage for a third duration of time; if the batteries are substantially fully depleted at the end of the first time duration, charging the batteries at the first voltage for an alternate second time duration, and charging the batteries at the second voltage for an alternate third duration of time.
Abstract: A toilet paper storage device which can be used for storing or dispensing rolls of toilet paper. The device has a cover and a base. The base can be positioned against a vertical wall and the cover can either be slidingly removed or pivotally displaced from the base in order to gain access to the interior of the device. The device can incorporate a raised flat panel which is formed in the sidewall of the cover. Because the flat panel is has a smaller diameter than the overall cover, the raised flat panel can be gripped with a single hand and facilitates ease of use by the elderly or a child.
Abstract: A flower bud wrapper includes a semi-rigid, perforated, expandable tube, preferably containing a longitudinal slit. The wrapper can be expanded by pushing the tube down a flared delivery tube having a key disposed in the slits by a set of expandable prongs pushing on a lip connected to the top end of each wrapper.
Abstract: A clamp for a water bottle cage having a mounting plate with spaced apertures comprising a first part having a rear hemispherical cavity, a front face having threaded bores having the same spacing as the apertures on the plate and a rear face having spaced threaded bores receives threaded fasteners for fastening the plate to the clamp. A second part having a front hemispherical cavity and spaced apertures receives threaded fasteners for clamping a water bottle cage to tubing such as the handlebar of a bicycle.
Abstract: A novel air filter design for use in residential and commercial heating and air conditioning systems comprising a laminated unit having a filter media where the upstream side of the filter media having a porous layer of passive electrostatic netting. The air filter design has a corrugation configuration to increase the available surface area when compared to conventional flat filters.
