  • Patent number: 5241443
Abstract: A transformer ground fault protector is provided and includes sensing means in the form of at least one conductive plate adjacent but spaced from the output of each secondary winding in a transformer having its secondary windings connected in series and at the midpoint of the series circuit to ground. The at least one conductive plate forms a capacitive circuit with the windings and provides an output voltage when the secondary windings are energized and unbalanced. The output voltage generated by the at least one conductive plate in normal operation of the transformer, is substantially equal to zero volts. However, when a fault occurs in the transformer, the output voltage induced in the at least one conductive plate has a magnitude greater than zero. The resultant voltage in turn is conveyed to a comparator which compares the magnitude of the resultant voltage with a predetermined threshold voltage.

  • Patent number: 5237707
Abstract: Safety helmets, totally encasing the wearer's head and incorporate breathing apparatus supplying air to and exhausting air from an isolated volume within the helmet, are well known. The isolated volume is defined by a viewing panel, an annular seal and the face of the wearer. There is a problem in fitting and removing such a helmet which has been solved in prior art constructions by making the helmet from two shell halves, hinged together at the crown of the helmet. The invention proposes a one-piece helmet shell, which has a front to rear dimension more the one and a half times that of the wearer's head, and providing a pad so supported that it can be displaced to the rear regions of the helmet, to facilitate fitting and removal of the helmet, and with the helmet fitted pushes the head of the wearer into pressure contact with the annular seal.

  • Patent number: 5238226
Abstract: In an unloaded state, by pulling the pressing drive member apart from the pressure bearing member by moving to the operation wheel side, the load sheave is allowed to rotate freely without disengaging the pinion of the drive shaft and the load sheave. In this lever operated hoist, at this time, since the conical friction member to be engaged with the pressing drive member in the rotating direction, and the intermediate member spline-coupled on the drive shaft adjacently to this conical friction member respectively have engaging parts to be engaged with each other in the rotating direction, disposed at their confronting ends, these engaging parts are engaged with each other when the load sheave rotates freely, and the contact of the torque transmitting member and other constituent members is effectively prevented, so that the load sheave is permitted to idle continously and smoothly.

  • Patent number: 5238257
Abstract: A rear wheel steering device comprising an input shaft which rotates about an axis oriented from front to rear in response to a steering angle of front wheels, a screw shaft which is united with the input shaft and has an axis eccentrically arranged with the axis of the input shaft, a nut which is meshed with the screw shaft, a rack formed on the nut, and a pinion meshed with the rack and connected to the nut. The pinion is supported in a manner that it is rotatable about a substantially vertical axis and movable in the rightward and leftward transverse direction. The pinion is meshed with a rear wheel steering rack. The rotation of the input shaft causes the screw shaft to rotate and whirl. In response to the rotation and the whirling motion of the screw shaft, the rear wheel steering rack moves in the rightward and leftward transverse direction. The rear wheels are steered by the transverse movement of the rear wheel steering rack.

  • Patent number: 5236015
Abstract: A position controlled proportional directional control valve has a main control piston for controlling flow between passages to a pump, a tank, and to passages which may be connected to an operative device, such as a hydraulic motor. The main control piston may be moved in one direction by an operating piston slidably disposed in a centring flange which serves as a mechanical stop for movement of the main control piston in the opposite direction. Acting on the end of the main control piston opposite the operating piston is a centring piston having one end in a pilot control chamber, and which may urge the main control piston against the centring flange either by pressure fluid in the chamber, or upon failure of pressure, by the spring in the chamber. A pilot control valve, under the control of an electrical magnet, moves proportionally to the current in the electrical magnet, to admit fluid under pressure from a pump passage into the pilot control chamber.

  • Patent number: 5233922
Abstract: An offset blanket print/coat assembly for printing or coating rotating containers has a novel inker blade adjustment means which adjusts the fountain blade relative to the fountain roll both inwardly and outwardly, and holds the blade edge in various desired positions along is entire length by the adjustment of individual adjustment threaded shafts positioned along the blade length. Each shaft has spaced apart threaded sections, one of which is more coarsely threaded than the other. One threaded section threadably engages a threaded mounting block mounted to the ink reservoir, while the other threaded section threadably engages a threaded adjusting eye slidably received in a sliding block mounted to the ink reservoir. The adjusting eye is coupled to the blade by a pivotable linkage.
