Abstract: Plant extract containing pellets are formed by a dispersion of plant extract or extracts in a matrix, principally comprising a skeleton builder namely collagen, gelatin, fractionated gelatin, a collagen hydrolysate, gelatin derivative plant proteins, or plant protein hydrolysates. They are shelf stable and their pharmacological as well as cosmetic properties are substantially unchanged in comparison to the native extracts. They may be produced by a simple process in which a solution of the skeleton former is mixed with liquid plant extract or emulsified with solid extracts, dissolved or suspended, the dispersion of the skeleton former and the plant extract dropped into a very cold inert fluid, suitably liquid nitrogen, to form the pellets and the thus formed pellets dried.

Abstract: There is disclosed an improved non-woven fabric comprising a layer of staple length fibers and a binder material diffused substantially through the fabric adhering fiber ends together to provide fabric strength. The improvement is based on the binder being arranged in a pattern in segments. These segments running substantially perpendicular to the orientation of the fibers (or the machine direction), and the pattern within these segments have a plurality of repeats within each segment and a repeat of said total segment pattern in alternate segments. The components of this pattern are mutually laterally displaced from each other in sequential segments, at least 80% of the components of said pattern being at an angle of between at least 10.degree. to not more than 70.degree. relative to the orientation of the majority of the fibers (or the machine direction).
Abstract: A process or apparatus can control thread provision in a warp knitting machine by means of a computer (6). The computer operation involves pattern data (MD) supplied as a sequence of numbers. These numbers are provided to a recognition routine (ER), which for every warp course (line W) determines the lapping type (LA) that should be formed and the shogging distance (SW) prescribed. Tables are stored for providing a thread provision value (FZ) for each combination of lapping type (LA), thread take-off value (WA), and a shogging distance (SW). Based upon (a) the determined lapping type, (b) the inputted fabric take-off value, (c) the inputtable external operating parameters or influences, and (d) the determined shogging distance, the thread provision value for this warp course is read out and utilized for controlling thread provision.

Abstract: A plurality of warp knitting machine needles are aligned in a parallel array in a like plurality of needle bar grooves. The needles each have a striker detent projection which mates with an abutment surface of the bar at the groove. The striker projection forms a key which is shaped to torque the needle against the groove in response to a force applied to a force transfer projection extending from the needle on a side opposite the striker projection. A convex tensioning device is between the force transfer projection and the bar and when compressed by a screw threaded to the bar spreads the device and forces the needle into the groove. The striker and the force transfer projection are axially aligned at the same or different needle shaft positions in different embodiments. A collar on the screw between the device and bar limits the maximum force applied to the needle.
Abstract: A cover for an ironing board has a sheet and a stretchable pad. The sheet has a front nose, a back and an underside and is shaped to cover the ironing board. This sheet has a marginal draw string for marginally securing the sheet to the ironing board. The stretchable pad has a shape complimenting the sheet. This pad is tacked to the underside of the sheet at a pair of spaced locations at the front nose and the back to partially allow the pad to slide relative to the sheet. Thus the pad can settle wrinkle-free on the ironing board with a degree of independence from the cover, and without a full barrier between the sheet and the pad.
Abstract: Cystamine is produced by a method which comprises reacting a 2,2-dialkyl thiazolidine represented by the general formula (1): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 independently are alkyl groups of 1 to 5 carbon atoms, with a peroxide in the presence of water. An alkylene oxide adduct of cystamine is produced by a method which comprises reacting the reaction mixture obtained as described above further with an alkylene oxide. These cystamine and alkylene oxide adduct of cystamine are useful as an additive for an aqueous lubricant.

Abstract: This invention pertains to an improved process for preparing chiral or racemic phenylalaninol (PAO) by hydrogenation of L(+)- or racemic 2-amino-1-phenyl-1,3-propanediol (APPD) in the presence of a strong volatile acid. Furthermore, a more valuable form of PAO such like N-blocked PAO was found to be directly produceable from the hydrogenation mixture without isolation of PAO, when a volatile acid was used as the medium of the hydrogenation reaction.
