  • Patent number: 5284034
Abstract: A warp knitted fabric has threads of a ground thread system forming a fabric ground. A pattern thread system also forms different patterned areas both in the weft direction as well as in the warp direction. In a basis area there is provided either cloth lapping (1-0/2-3-1 or 0-1 /3-2-1). In the patterned area, a sequence is built by different lappings selected from a group consisting of pillar, tricot, cloth, satin and velvet stitches, in which the average length of the underlaps in predetermined pattern repeats is substantially similar to the underlap length of the cloth lapping. This gives rise to numerous new patterning possibilities, in particular for a Jersey fabric. In addition to a described process, a warp knitting machine is provided for making such warp knitted goods.

  • Patent number: 5280698
Abstract: There is provided a thread splicing arrangement having a splicing head with a splicing channel. In the vicinity of the ends of the channel, holding devices can clamp the ends of the threads during the splicing, and cutting arrangements can cut the free ends of the threads. The holding devices hold the threads near the base of the splicing channel. Pressurized gas channels are provided on both sides of the middle of the splicing channel. The outlets of these gas channels are located in the channel base and extend on both sides of a longitudinal plane of symmetry of the splicing channel. The axes of the pressurized gas channels approach that plane of symmetry at equal but opposite angles. This leads to a simple mode of construction providing good splicing for various different thread materials.

  • Patent number: 5275211
Abstract: An electromagnetically activated jacquard control arrangement comprising a plurality of control elements each combined with a lifter element (16) and each provided with an electromagnet (19) with an armature (21). There is further provided a lifter plate (7) which, in each working cycle, lifts the lifter element (16) out of a rest position into a working position and which thereafter is again lowered so that the lifter element, in dependence upon the activation condition of the electromagnet, remains in the working position or returns to the rest position. Every lifter element (16) comprises a hook (26) which operates together with a counterhook held in a predetermined elevation. Each armature (21) is rotatably mounted on an axis (24) and by its swinging movement, displaces the counterhook into or out of the path of the lifter element hook. The lifter plate (7) can lift the lifter element beyond the working position into a predetermined zone.

  • Patent number: 5273541
Abstract: A safety syringe has a hollow shield with a plunger opening on one end and a needle opening on the other end. At least one locking lug is mounted at the plunger opening. The syringe also has a lumen that is telescopically mounted at least partially within the shield. The lumen has a catch for engaging the locking lug. A needle attached to the lumen is aligned with the needle opening of the shield. An urging means is mounted in the shield to urge the lumen and to retract the needle into the shield. A plunger has an inner end slidably mounted in the lumen and an outer end mounted through the plunger opening. The outer end of the plunger has an extension for engaging and deflecting the locking lug to release the catch, which allows the urging means to retract the needle into the shield.

  • Patent number: 5265439
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for producing ice figures as well as a device for this purpose. A device in accordance with invention (901) is provided with at least two cooling bodies (905, 906) facing one another, and these are washed by water inside a container (902). The cooling bodies are cooled to below the freezing point of water by means of a refrigeration compressor (904) using coolant so that ice layers (918, 919) form on each cooling body (905, 906), and grow onto one another and then contact one another, so that the two ice layers freeze together, so that a single-piece ice figure is produced, where the completion of the single-piece ice figure is detected for example with a sensor (922). Once the single-piece ice figure is completed it is detached from the cooling bodies (905, 906) and removed.

  • Patent number: 5254572
Abstract: Treatment or prophylaxis of depressed or inadequate intracellular pyridoxal phosphate levels in a human or animal patient resulting from a condition, wherein the pyridoxihe (PN)--pyridoxal phosphate (PLP) pathway is disturbed or insufficient, either by chemical factors as occur in physiological shock myocardial, infarction, release of polyamines or toxins by cell death or microbes, vitamin B6 antagonistic drugs; or by enzymatic insufficiencies inherent in the cells of a patient caused by genetic lack of oxidase or genetic oxidase polymorphism; cellular immaturity of premature infants; in conditions involving anemia, destruction of erythrocytes (e.g. malaria, biliary fever). The deficiencies are counteracted by the administration of pyridoxal or a precursor of pyridoxal which in vivo, once it has entered the bloodstream, is rapidly converted into pyridoxal without the intervention of oxidase or oxygen, optionally and preferably without the intervention of kinase.

  • Patent number: 5251666
Abstract: A brake hose coupling for coupling to a glad hand body. The glad hand body has a primary port and a pair of primary flanges bordering and angularly spaced about the primary port. The brake hose coupling has a coupling body with a complementary port and a pair of complementary flanges adapted to rotate coaxially into engagement with the primary flanges of the glad hand body The complementary flanges border and are angularly spaced about the complementary port. The brake hose coupling also has a lock with a latching member mounted to reciprocate on the coupling body adjacent and transversely to one of the complementary flanges, between a release and an engage position. In the release position the latching member has clearance to allow passage of a corresponding one of the primary flanges. In the engage position the latching member blocks passage of the corresponding one of the primary flanges. Thus the latching member is operable to lock the coupling body on the glad hand body.
