  • Patent number: 6360626
Abstract: A transmission arrangement for twin-screw extruders in which at least one reduction stage that includes a drive shaft, adapts speeds and torques to various applications. The output of the transmission is divided by a bifurcating stage which is connected to two output shafts. At least a part of the output is transmitted to an intermediate shaft located downstream of the bifurcating stage. First opposing gear wheels with herringbone teeth are mounted on the intermediate shaft and engage second gear wheels on the intermediate shaft for relieving axial forces. One of the output shafts is mounted on sliding bearings and is driven directly by the bifurcating stage.

  • Patent number: 6361633
Abstract: A method and device for producing a two chamber pressure pack comprised of an outer container (1) and an inner sack (2) which are glued in an edge area. After inserting the inner sack into the outer container, the edge area of the inner sack is expanded by means of a tool, said tool being guided into said area, and is pressed against the inner surface of the edge area of the outer container. Afterwards, the edge areas which are connected to one another are mutually bordered by the outer container and inner sack. A valve cover is placed on the bordering edge in a sealed manner. In order to be able to uniformly expand the edge area of the inner sack, a compressible elastic body (5) is used as a tool, said body being arranged approximately vertical in relation to the opening plane. When the inner sack is being inserted into the outer container, the outer periphery of said body is smaller than that of the inner wall of the inner sack edge area.

  • Patent number: 6354225
Abstract: A track-alternating arrangement for magnetic-levitation roadways, in which one of a series of mutually aligned bearers in each roadway establishes a first junction to join the roadways together. The bearer is inflectable to form the first junction. Each bearer, in an inflected state in one roadway, is aligned with another bearer in an adjacent roadway. An abutting one of the bearers adjacent the inflectable bearer is shiftable out beyond a free base of a car traveling over the roadway to provide sufficient space for the car to pass the junction. The abutting bearers are inflected to establish a different second junction. The inflectable bearers are shiftable out beyond a free cross-section of the car when the abutting bearers establish the different second junction.

  • Patent number: 6356798
Abstract: A method of operating a machine for cutting stacks of material in sheets. The machine's basic settings are established in accordance with parametric settings (machine parameters). Specific parameters (program parameters) are permanently assigned to an overall material-cutting program. Individual parameters (routine parameters) are permanently assigned to paper-cutting routines within the overall program. The machine parameters are stored and remain valid until modified or replaced by specifically requested routine parameters. The routine parameters are stored and remain valid until modified. The method allows the operation of the machine to be adapted to the various conditions that occur during the job.

  • Patent number: 6296103
Abstract: A method and apparatus of buffering sheets of cut stock in block-shaped stacks ranged in rows between stock-cutting machinery and further processing machinery, whereby each row is also block-shaped. Each row produced by the cutting process is forwarded to a buffer's intake and thence to a marshaling area where it is combined with previously forwarded rows into a group. Each group is forwarded to the buffer's outtake and combined with any other rows already there. The most downstream row of the group is forwarded to the further-processing machinery.

  • Patent number: 6293533
Abstract: A dashpot for wheel suspensions, with a preferably sheet-metal spring cup (6). The cup is attached to a shock absorber or its accommodating tube, supports a helical spring that surrounds the shock absorber or tube, and can be advanced along the shock absorber or tube on threads. To allow the dashpot to be raised and lowered in precise increments, the attachment is maintained tight by a cylindrical housing (3). The housing is provided with a slot extending over its total length and with outside threads. Its inner surface of the housing rests directly against the shock absorber or its tube. The housing operates in conjunction with a height-adjustment ring (12) or neck (7) with matching inside threads on the spring cup. The slope of the threads ensure that the force exerted by the spring on the spring cup will squeeze the slotted housing together radially.

  • Patent number: 6199637
Abstract: A movable implement for loosening soil below ground, in which a row of blades with blade holders are located perpendicular to a direction of motion of the implement. A supporting arm has one end articulated to each blade, and a frame is articulated to another end of the supporting arm. The supporting arm is engaged by a connecting rod of a crank device, which operates in a vertical plane parallel to the direction of motion. The supporting arm mounts a blade adjustment lever with two arms. The adjustment lever pivots coaxially with an articulating shaft. A stop is mounted on a downward-extending arm of the blade-adjustment lever, and points below the articulating shaft. A lever-adjusting device has a variable angle to the supporting arm for varying the angle of the blade to the ground. A spring forces a blade holder against the stop. The blades are forced away from the stop during movement of the implement.

  • Patent number: 6174398
Abstract: A method of fabricating the composite metal-and-plastic components of an antiballistic grill for an armored vehicle. Each component comprises a core in the form of a length of structural section with layers of plastic against each side bonded to the core by heat and pressure in a mold comprising two halves. The object of the present invention is simpler and more economical lamination in the fabrication of non-flat work with a metal core. The core is electrically heated to a prescribed processing temperature by regulating a current of electricity, whereby the resulting heat is employed to soften to a prescribed extent adhesive between the core and the layers of plastic to be bonded to it.

  • Patent number: 6138587
Abstract: An arrangement for burning refuse in which the refuse is deposited on a grate and transported to a drop-out shaft. A part of the air supplied for burning the refuse is transmitted as primary air from below the grate. A part of the air is also blown into a combustion chamber as secondary air. The resulting flue gas from the combustion is moved in a direct or parallel stream with the refuse to an end region of the combustion chamber, and deflected in direction and injected through an opening in a flue gas channel having a vertical center plane and two channel halves on both sides of the plane. At least a secondary air stream is blown into blown channel halves in the region of the channel opening, mirror-symmetrically to the center plane. The second air stream is blown in with a rotary pulse relative to a center axis of a cross-section of the channel halves. Two oppositely rotating swirls are generated by the secondary air streams in the channel halves symmetrically to the vertical center plane.

  • Patent number: 6139021
Abstract: A seal for hydraulically sealing a piston rod (1) that travels axially into and out of a holder, preferably a hydraulic shock absorber. A sealing component (11) of elastic plastic has one edge (12) resting against the piston rod, tensioned over an elastomeric component, and accommodated along with that component in a sealing chamber (10). The object is to simplify the seal, reduce friction, and ensure that it will work even at very low temperatures. The tension is accordingly generated by two rings (13 & 14) of packing cord positioned diagonally opposite each other in the cross-section of the chamber. The rings, as long as they are not tensioned against each other, against the inner surface of the chamber, and against the back (15) of the sealing component, occupy most of the space inside the chamber.

  • Patent number: 6135629
Abstract: A device for stirring up gas flowing through a duct (2) accommodating one or more flat insertion structures (1) positioned at an acute angle to the main gas stream. Each structure constitutes an eddy-generating surface with a freely washed forward edge directed toward the oncoming gas and facing partly along and partly across the flowing gas. Each structure can be contoured in cross-section. The object is to decrease the weight of the structures. Each structure is accordingly basically a trapezium with two parallel edges of different length, the shorter edge of the installed structure facing upstream and the longer edge provided with an aerodynamic sweep and facing downstream. The structure is also accordingly folded along three straight lines (3) to form an .omega. or w in cross-section, with two convex folds (5) flanking a single concave fold (4).
