Abstract: In a composite material of metal and ceramic, the excellent properties of metal and ceramic are combined, so that, when the composite material is flame sprayed, a flame sprayed coating having good mechanical strength and heat- corrosion- and wear-resistance can be obtained. Conventional composite material, in which metal and ceramic are merely mixed or mechanically bonded with one another, cannot provide a plasma sprayed coating having a high bonding strength to the substrate. The present invention improves the plasma spraying composite material by means of a chemical bond between the metal and ceramic parts. The chemical bond may be a compound-or solid solution formation between these parts. The core of the composite material is ZrO.sub.2 and the coating is a metal, metallic compound or combination thereof.

Abstract: The invention relates to an arrangement for obtaining an uninterrupted connection of an electric cable or the like between two elements pivotally hinged to each other, in particular, between a door frame element and a door connected thereto. The arrangement comprises, at the position of the connection, a member arranged around the cable in the form of a separate, turnable and longitudinally flexible protecting element. This element is arranged basically in the longitudinal direction of the door frame element and one end of the element is connected to the door frame element and the other end to an adjacent edge part of the door. There is, for said protecting element, in the door frame and/or in said door edge part, at least one recess. This recess is so arranged that, when the door is closed, the protecting element and said cable are received in this recess.
Abstract: A motorcycle two cylinder asymmetric ignition timing system includes an electronic ignition advance circuit. A spark advance control signal is derived from a base signal which in turn has a magnitude that is representative of the time duration between spark ignition signals and thus is representative of engine speed. The spark is not advanced at engine speeds up to 300 RPM, is advanced 9.degree. between 300 RPM and 800 RPM and is advanced 16.degree. above 800 RPM. Intersection between a ramp signal which has a duration that is an inverse function of engine speed and a base signal that has an amplitude which is an inverse function of engine speed determines the time at which the ignition signal is generated. The lower the base signal, the sooner the intersection of the ramp with the base signal and thus the earlier the ignition signal. In this fashion the desired advance is attained.
Abstract: A thermostat, operating on the basis of current generated heat, rather than ambient temperature, operates as an equivalent of a snap-action thermostat, though without the necessity for provision of a snap-action dimple, by use of two bimetallic arms, the motion of one being restricted by the casing and a calibration dimple in or on the casing. The two bimetallic arms move, as in a creep action thermostat, upon current generation, with separation of the arms being accomplished when the restricted arm can no longer move to follow the unrestricted arm. Such thermostats are particularly valuable where a high initial inrush of current is experienced, as with an incandescent lamp fixture, when initial opening of the device, on the high current inrush, is not desired.
Abstract: A curling iron for curling or waving a lock of hair twined around a heated iron rod, wherein an iron rod/clamping member assembly is mounted rotatably on the iron handle and mechanical or electrical means is provided for rotating the assembly to facilitate the curling or waving operation. Preferably, the iron rod/clamping member assembly is mounted detachably on a rotatable shaft housed within the iron handle to enable ready replacement of the assembly as well as angular positioning of the assembly with respect to the iron handle.
Abstract: Two or more containers for various products, having a generally parallelepiped shaped, are joined to form a multipack by blanks made of cardboard and the like. The package has a V folded band which is placed and glued between two adjacent containers, and handles to carry it arranged on the extensions of the V folded band. The invention also relates to a method of joining the containers so as to form the multipack.
Abstract: A catalytic reformer process for the production of hydrogen and a product of enhanced aromatic content comprises the utilization of a plurality of reactor stages wherein the heat in the effluent from the terminal adiabatic stage of a conventional adiabatic reactor train is utilized in an ascending temperature pattern reactor, termed an alkylcyclohexane converter, by means of simultaneous heat exchange, to provide the endothermic heat of reaction required for the dehydrogenation to aromatics of the original alkylcyclohexanes in the feed. An ascending temperature pattern reactor, termed an alkylcyclopentane converter, may optionally be employed wherein heat supplied from stack gases generated by the conventional fired heaters in an adiabatic reactor train can, additionally, be employed to supply heat to such converter.
Abstract: Method for producing an interlaced multifilament yarn comprising previously rubbing and scratching a material multifilament yarn with an intensity such that the individual filaments constituting the multifilament yarn are not substantially broken by a rotary rough surface member having sharp projections which are smaller than the cross-sectional diameter of the individual filament of the multifilament yarn; then diffusing at least one jetted fluid, each jetted in the yarn running direction along a predetermined yarn passage from a jetting aperture of a supply conduit through a nozzle formed with a rectifying and diffusing portion having a substantially uniform section with the supply conduit being fixed with respect to the members defining the yarn passage; and then impinging the diffused jetted fluid against the running material multifilament yarn so that the individual filaments of the multifilament yarn mostly vibrate in a direction which is substantially parallel to a plane defined by the yarn running dir
Abstract: A shelter for protecting large-size objects, such as open-air machines, cycles, motorcycles, windsurfers, etc. . . . comprises, on its front face, a door giving access to the interior of the shelter and, in its lower part, a flooring on which the object or objects to be protected with beneath the flooring, a compartment in which is housed a heave mass of which the weight is transferred onto the walls of the shelter, in order considerably to increase the total weight of the shelter and prevent easy handling thereof.
Abstract: A spray of Candida kruseii is applied to the burned area of skin to allow for the healing of the burn and regeneration of the skin in the affected area. The Candida kruseii spray forms a crust over the affected area, allowing for a more rapid healing and skin regeneration in the affected area than is accomplished with prior burn control treatment. The Candida kruseii treatment is also effective with other open sores, such as varicose ulcers and decubitus ulcers.
