  • Patent number: 6078384
Abstract: Processes and arrangements for the evaluation of laser Doppler signals, especially in laser Doppler anemometers (LDA) or vibrometers, are disclosed. The object of these processes and arrangements is to find a simple possibility for evaluating laser Doppler signals which retains the advantages of conventional frequency tracking demodulation and permits dependable actual measurements of velocities and derived movement values also for extremely low velocities and discontinuous particle flows. This object is achieved with the use of a laser Doppler anemometer (LDA) with bandpass filtration and frequency tracking demodulation, by generating at least one orthogonal frequency system which, as a sequence of four state intervals in an invertible one-to-one correlation, is formed of two additively superimposed rectangular functions with a phase displacement of .pi./2, a detector signal containing the Doppler frequency (f.sub.

  • Patent number: 6077251
Abstract: An apparatus for intraorgan administration of medicinal agents, such as, cells, growth factors, drugs and other agents under direct visualization, for example using an endoscope, by an apparatus and method which create needle channels within the target organ and deposits by injection, the medicinal agent in high concentrations at designated sites of the target organ. The device consists of a chamber having at least one retractable hollow bore needle; a reservoir for containing an injectable medicinal agent which is in communication with the needle and control means for extending and retracting the needle from and into the chamber and forcing the medicinal agent from the reservoir into the needle and injecting it into a target organ, said control means being suitable for effecting control through an endoscopic tube. Also disclosed are injection needles having side openings therein for enhanced administration of the medicinal agent to the target organ.

  • Patent number: 6074374
Abstract: A catheter for use with the vascular system includes an elongated catheter body which has a side wall defining an interior catheter lumen. A plurality of openings are provided in the side wall at a first distal zone of the catheter body. The openings are adapted for relatively low pressure movement of fluid therethrough. A plurality of normally closed pressure responsive exits are located in a side wall at a second distal zone of the catheter body, the second distal zone being spaced from and positioned proximal of the first distal zone. The pressure responsive exits permit fluid material to exit from the catheter lumen in response to internal fluid pressure which is greater than a predetermined magnitude. An intermediate zone is located between the first and second distal zones. A removable occluding member is adapted to be positioned within the catheter lumen. The occluding member has a sealing element with a collapsed insertion state and an expanded sealing state.

Abstract: A multi-function mouse pad adapted to be utilized with a computer mouse and that includes apertures therein so that the mouse pad also can be utilized as a stencil or template. The apertures may be in the form of round holes of varying diameter so that the outer diameter of a tube can be measured. The apertures may also have different geometric shapes. The mouse pad further can include a needle gauge aperture to be utilized to measure the gauge size of a needle. The mouse pad also can include round projections extending therefrom for purposes of measuring the inner diameter of round, hollow tube. Such projections can extend from the top surface or a side surface of the mouse pad.

  • Patent number: 6068104
Abstract: A device for securing a moving object at a destination has, as a object, the imparting of flexibility to the position of the object to be secured; this object also applies when the space for special securing elements is relatively small and is predetermined to with respect to its location. The device comprises elements which engage one inside the other. A first part of these elements is provided so as to be stationary at the destination and a second part is provided at the moving object. An approach arrangement facilitates the engagement of the elements one inside the other. The first part serves as a guide device for the second part and permits a movement of the second part in a first direction and blocks a movement vertical to this direction. Further, the guide device has a stopping arrangement for stopping the object in at least one location along the path of the permitted movement. The second part engages in the first part by means of movement which are offset relative to one another with respect to time.

  • Patent number: 6062337
Abstract: A sound reproduction arrangement having at least one sound transducer and a holding means carrying the at least one sound transducer, for support on the body of a user is disclosed. Such an arrangement has been known hitherto as a headset. The headset has two ear caps, in each of which is arranged at least one respective sound transducer. The headset is supported on the body of the user by virtue of it being fitted on to the head so that a respective ear cap bears with its open side directly on an ear of the user or encloses same, and thus the sound transducer or transducers disposed in the ear cap output the acoustic signals directly to the ear (the known headset would therefore in itself be more correctly identified as a .vertline.earphone.vertline.). It is characteristic of a headset that the left ear receives only the left audio signal and the right ear receives only the right audio signal of the headset.

Abstract: A fiber-optic arrangement for additive mixing of a plurality of light bundles comprises individual light-conducting cores for guiding laser light bundles independently and separately from one another, wherein each of the cores has a light entry location and a light exit location. The light-conducting cores are enclosed by a common cladding and are arranged so as to run alongside one another within said cladding. Propagation directions of the light bundles are identical in all cores. Light exit locations of all cores are arranged in a common plane oriented at a right angle to the propagation direction. The lateral distance between every two cores at the light exit locations are smaller than the lateral distance between the same cores at the light entry locations.
