Patent number: 7895839Abstract: A combined circulation condenser for a steam cycle apparatus is disclosed. The steam cycle apparatus includes a steam generator with a port for receiving a fluid. The steam generator presents heat to the fluid to generate steam that is directed out another port, which presents the steam to a turbine to generate electrical power. The turbine has an outlet that directs an exhaust steam into a condenser. A fluid flow system is inside the condenser, which directs cooling water along a pathway through the condenser so that the cooling water cools the exhaust steam, forming condensate. A condensate pump collects and pumps the condensate along another pathway through the condenser so that the condensate can additionally cool the exhaust steam. Simultaneously, the exhaust steam warms the condensate. This pathway directs the condensate to a feed pump, which pumps the condensate back to the steam generator through the generator's input port.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 2007Date of Patent: March 1, 2011Inventor: Steven Richard Miller

Patent number: 7894337Abstract: In a method and system for controlling base station processing unit overload and buffer overflow in a unified manner, one or more processing units of the base station are monitored to determine if the processing unit(s) has entered an overload condition. If so, on a per flow basis, the system generates an advertise window for controlling the amount of data in the data flow, as transmitted to the processing unit from an upstream entity. The advertise window is generated taking into consideration both processor overload and buffer overflow factors. By incorporating these factors, the advertise windows collectively serve to limit both processor overload and buffer overflow, on a system wide basis.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2007Date of Patent: February 22, 2011Assignee: Alcatel-Lucent USA Inc.Inventors: Liwa Wang, Pengfei Zhu

Patent number: 7886553Abstract: A method and a control unit for controlling a power level being drawn from a power source (26). Based on a determined rate of change of a measured voltage (1) an estimated remaining runtime is calculated. The estimated remaining runtime represents a time where specific run criteria will no longer be fulfilled if the present power level is maintained. The estimated remaining runtime is compared to a threshold value, and in case the estimated remaining runtime is shorter than the threshold value, the power drawn from the power source (26) is decreased. Thereby the runtime for the power source (26) is maximised. This is particularly useful if the power source is a limited power source, such as a battery (26), e.g. for running a compressor (27) for a movable refrigeration system (24). The invention is suitable for automotive applications.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2006Date of Patent: February 15, 2011Assignee: Danfoss Compressors GmbHInventors: Henrik Joergensen, Rune Thomsen

Patent number: 7873067Abstract: In a floor control system for a network, a floor control server controls a floor-based application for communications between multiple participant terminals. The server carries out a floor determination process that includes an adaptive waiting function. Upon receiving an initial floor request message, the server waits for additional requests before determining the floor winner. The wait time is a function of the floor request load. When the system is lightly loaded, the wait time is generally small. For heavier request loads, the wait time is generally longer, to ensure that a reasonable number of requests are received before awarding the floor. The wait time may be limited by a maximum wait time, which is a function of the floor request load. If a designated number of floor requests is received before the maximum wait time expires, a temporary floor winner is granted the floor if its priority is sufficiently high.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 2006Date of Patent: January 18, 2011Assignee: Alcatel-Lucent USA Inc.Inventors: Krishna Balachandran, Thomas P. Patent number: 7872322Abstract: A symmetrical vertical Hall element comprises a well of a first conductivity type that is embedded in a substrate of a second conductivity type and which is contacted by four contacts serving as current and voltage contacts. From the electrical point of view, such a Hall element with four contacts can be regarded as a resistance bridge formed by four resistors R1 to R4 of the Hall element. From the electrical point of view, the Hall element is then regarded as ideal when the four resistors R1 to R4 have the same value. The invention suggests a series of measures in order to electrically balance the resistance bridge. A first measure exists in providing at least one additional resistor. A second measure exists in locally increasing or reducing the electrical conductivity of the well. A third measure exists in providing two Hall elements that are electrically connected in parallel in such a way that their Hall voltages are equidirectional and their offset voltages are largely compensated.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 2002Date of Patent: January 18, 2011Assignee: Melexis Tessenderlo NVInventors: Christian Schott, Radivoje Popovic, Pierre-Andre Besse, Enrico Schurig
