Abstract: An apparatus, method, and system to provide, as one example, up-light for aerial viewing from downwardly aimed wide area, high intensity, lighting fixtures. The method controls a small percentage of light from the fixture to pass up and away for up-light, with the remainder used to produce a controlled, concentrated beam to a target. Some embodiments include a substantial amount of glare and spill light control. An apparatus can include a lamp and fixture with a visor length that is shorter than most conventional spill and glare control visors. The visor allows a controlled, relatively small percentage of direct light from the fixture for a desired or needed level of aerial illumination, but efficiently directs other light to the target. Optionally, a reflective plate is positioned inside the visor to reflect a small percentage of light from the fixture upwardly for up-light. Another embodiment can shift a fraction of light in direction(s) different than the main light output of the fixture.
Abstract: A method for manufacturing an electronic circuit in three-dimensional space provides for interconnecting electronic components within the circuit by directly writing conducting lines. The method may include observing a direct writing tool of a direct write system using a vision system, determining proper placement of the direct writing tool at least partially based on the step of observing, and directly writing conducting lines in three dimensions using the proper placement. The direct writing may be on a surface or in free space. The method may include stacking a plurality of chips to provide a stack having a top surface and edges extending away from the top and interconnecting connections of the chips by directly writing conducting lines along one of the edges.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system for compensating for lamp lumen depreciation. The method includes operating the lamp under rated wattage for a period towards the first part of operating life of the lamp. Operating wattage is increased at one or more later times. Energy savings are realized. The increases also restore at least some light lost by lamp lumen depreciation. The apparatus uses a timer to track operating time of the lamp. A few wattage changes made at spaced apart times can be made in a number of ways, including changing capacitance to the lamp, or using different taps on the lamp ballast. In one aspect the invention pertains to solid state sources. The invention can pertain to a variety of applications including wide area lighting, indoor lighting, pathway lighting, parking lot lighting, street lighting, under-counter or -cabinet lighting, and others.

Abstract: Electrical circuit quick connection and disconnection system with automatic short circuit of current transformer secondaries and similar devices, consists of a multipole plug (6) and receptacle (11) system with automatic short-circuit capacity between the poles (7, 12) upon initiation of disconnection between the plug (6) and the receptacle (11), without incurring in the temporary opening of the circuit, for application in current transformer (3) secondary circuits (3B) and other applications requiring the same characteristics. The system is equipped with a number N of paired poles (7, 12), being that each pair of poles (7, 12) is connected to a CT (3) secondary (3B), therefore handling the connection of N CT (3) secondaries (3B).
Abstract: A method for processing unseparated egg shells is provided. The method includes placing the unseparated egg shells in a fluid tank containing a fluid mixture, applying cavitation to the fluid mixture to thereby assist in separating the egg shell membranes from the egg shells, and recovering the egg shell membranes. Preferably, the fluid mixture is recirculated to thereby provide for continuous processing of unseparated egg shells. The method may further include drying the egg shell membranes to produce dried egg shell membranes which may then be vacuum packaged for storage and/or transport. The dried egg shell membranes may then be subjected to an extraction process for extracting at least one type of polypeptide from the egg shell membranes. Collagen, hyaluronic acid, or amino acids of interest may be extracted from the egg shell membrane and purified for numerous uses.
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system for compensating for lamp lumen depreciation and providing selective discretionary lamp power adjustment, e.g., for lamp dimming. A component allows selective discretionary adjustment of electrical power or some other controlling factor to adjust light output (e.g. dim) the lamp.
Abstract: The methods and compositions disclosed herein describes a solution containing at least one block co-polymer that is a liquid at lower temperatures and transitions to a gel at higher temperatures. The compositions are useful, for example, as an alternative to saline or silicone-gel as fillers for prostheses.

Abstract: An air ride system is provided for tractors and other agricultural vehicles to provide a smooth operator ride. The system includes a bracket mounted to the transmission housing beneath the cab. A pair of shock absorbers and a pair of air bags extend between the bracket and the cab so as to absorb forces generated during travel of the vehicle over the ground. A laterally extending control rod provides anti-sway for the cab. Stop members limit the upward and downward travel of the cab relative to the transmission housing. A compressor and air lines allow air to be supplied to or removed from the air bags to adjust the ride.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for selecting a preferred signal from homogenous streams of a subscriber call in an analog or mixed mode wireless communication network. The method and apparatus have particular significance to un-decoded analog radio packets which require digital signal processing to decode at least their signaling information. The method allocates at least one stream with the best signal qualities to real-time full-decoding in a DSP, and allocates lower quality streams to non-real time burst decoding in the same or another DSP. As signaling quality changes in the homogenous streams, the full-decoding can be re-allocated to a now higher quality stream. Burst decoding lower quality streams allows for more efficient use of DSP processing power and allows more streams to be processed without significant affect on audio content or quality.
