  • Patent number: 7899194
Abstract: A method for voice communication which includes sensing at least one channel of audio information from proximate a first external auditory canal of a user, sensing at least one channel of audio information proximate a second external auditory canal of the user, and wirelessly transmitting the at least one channel of audio information from proximate the first external auditory canal of the user and the at least one channel of audio information from proximate the second external auditory canal of the user. The method may further include producing a stereophonic audio signal based on the at least one channel of audio information from proximate the first external auditory canal and the at least one channel of audio information from proximate the second external auditory canal. The signal may be stereophonic, recognize right or left, and be tailored to fit the audiometric needs of the user.

  • Patent number: 7892351
Abstract: A family of compounds has been developed containing a substantial quantity of boron in solution with other beneficial ingredients that has been heretofore unobtainable. These compounds are named and referred to herein as “Boroncitrates”. The individual Boroncitrates are: boron lithium citrate (BLiCit), boron potassium citrate (BKCit) and boron sodium citrate (BNaCit). These Boroncitrates can be used individually or in combination with one another. Alkali metals such as rubidium, cesium and francium could also be made into Boroncitrates; but, there is no advantage in using these very scarce and much more expensive alkali metals. Use of Boroncitrates provides a new and improved means for hydraulic cementitious compositions to take set faster or slower, as determined by the user and as the individual jobsite needs dictate; thereby providing the long-sought, unfulfilled flexibility required by today's rapidly expanding concrete industry.

  • Patent number: 7880077
Abstract: A media system interface (200) includes a display (210) that provides a play list (300, 400) of media items to be played, such as songs or broadcast television or radio programs. A user input device (220) such as buttons on the interface allows the user to highlight a selected media item (T4) which is not desired, and to request that the media item be replaced by an alternative media item (T4-A1). The user may further indicate if the undesired item should be replaced by a similar or dissimilar item. The alternative media item is automatically selected, such as based on user preference data (145), and the list is displayed in an updated form (500, 600) with the alternative media item. A layout of the play list is adjusted to accommodate the alternative media item. The display may be provided, e.g., on a portable media player or a remote control to a home media system.

  • Patent number: 7874780
Abstract: A machine and method are provided for making a lay-flat book or album with multiple pages. The machine includes a base with first and second supports. Paper forming the book pages is creased and placed front face down upon the supports and held in position by a vacuum. An adhesive is applied to the back of one page, and then the supports pressed together to adhere the pages together. Hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders move the supports, as controlled by electrical or electronic circuitry in a control panel. Thus, a semi-automatic process is provided for gluing the book pages together.

  • Patent number: 7874103
Abstract: A gate assembly is provided for positioning in an opening through which selective entry is required. The gate assembly includes barrier means mountable directly or indirectly to one or more surrounding surfaces defining the opening. Hinge means are provided to allow the barrier means to be movable relative to the surrounding surfaces in use between a closed position, wherein the opening is closed, to an open position, wherein the opening is open. The hinge means include a hinge pin movably mounted in a channel or recess. The channel or recess receiving the hinge pin in use has a taper which narrows from an opening of said channel or recess through which said hinge pin is located in use towards a base or opposite end of said recess or channel.

  • Patent number: 7874055
Abstract: An apparatus, method and system for assembling lighting fixtures where reflective inserts are installed into a reflector frame to create a reflective surface for the fixture. According to one aspect of the method, some type of worker-perceivable indication prompts a worker as to which reflective insert should be installed at which mounting location on the reflector frame. The worker does not have to guess or translate written instructions. The method can be used sequentially to provide such assistance for each of a plurality of reflective inserts for a plurality of mounting locations. The method is particularly helpful if the reflective inserts are not identical for each mounting location. According to one aspect of an apparatus according to the invention, a reflector frame is removably mounted to a machine that holds the reflector frame in an indexed position.

  • Patent number: 7869344
Abstract: A method and system for providing protection of multiple communication sessions using the bandwidth resources on the order of those required to protect a single communication session. This is facilitated through the use of network coding on a protection cycle. Transmissions from all connections are coded together using network coding and transmitted in two different directions on a cycle, so that the signal can be recovered by the receiver in two ways: on the working path, and on the protection (cycle) path.

  • Patent number: 7861469
Abstract: A method and apparatus for supporting and straightening a framed wall includes a plurality of beams, a mounting plate, a bolt, and a pusher. The mounting plate is secured to the beam and the bolt is threadably secured to the mounting plate. The bolt is received by the pusher. When tightened, the bolt applies pressure to the pusher which in turn applies pressure to the framed wall. Alternatively, a plurality of mounting plates and pushers may be used to apply pressure to a cross beam and thereby efficiently apply pressure to a plurality of framed wall beams. By tightening the bolt, the user can apply pressure to the beam and straighten or retain the wall. As the wall shifts during periods of correction, the bolt may be re-tightened to apply additional pressure to the wall.

  • Patent number: 7854946
Abstract: The metabolic fingerprint and anti-inflammatory activity and anti-HIV activity of H. gentianoides is disclosed. High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis shows that H. gentianoides contains a family of compounds, including some not previously observed in other Hypericum species. H. gentianoides extracts and fractions from these extracts reduce prostaglandin E2 synthesis in mammalian macrophages and inhibit HIV in infected HeLa cells. The present invention provides extracts and fractions thereof from H. gentianoides for use in pharmaceutical compositions and methods for the treatment or inhibition of inflammation, prostaglandin E-mediated disease, disorder or condition, a cyclooxygenase-mediated disease, disorder or condition, or an HIV infection.
