  • Patent number: 8142832
Abstract: According to the invention a novel vegetable protein fractionation procedure is disclosed which includes a straightforward process to obtain ?-conglycinin-rich and glycinin-rich isolated protein fractions with unique functional and nutritional properties desired by the food industry. The process is much simplified compared to the art and avoids multiple steps in the usual fractionation of soy protein and uses very small amounts of salts avoiding the necessity of excessive washing and desalting steps. The process yields high amounts of protein fractions with high isoflavone contents and improved functional properties.

  • Patent number: 8132844
Abstract: A heavy vehicle door or ramp is opened and closed using an intuitive control system. The door includes a latch assembly, a lock assembly, and a power unit to assist in opening and closing the door. The door includes an interior joy stick handle and an exterior lever handle. From outside the vehicle, the door is opened and closed by pivoting the lever handle downwardly and upwardly, respectively. From the interior of the vehicle, the joy stick handle is pulled inwardly to close the door and push outwardly to open the door. Pivoting the joystick handle forwardly engages the blast locks, while pivoting the joystick handle rearwardly unlatches the latch assembly and disengages the blast locks. The power assist unit is actuated by pivotal movement of the outside door handle and lateral pivotal movement of the interior joystick handle. Perimeter bump strips offer safety functions to prevent injuries when remote function is active.

  • Patent number: 8133486
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for altering a B cell mediated pathology in a patient. This method comprises administering a composition comprising at least one and/or two chimeric proteins. Each chimeric protein comprises at least a portion of either the VH or VL region of a immunoglobulin molecule from particular B cells from a patient having a B cell mediated pathology, and an immunoglobulin constant region. The genes encoding VH and/or VL regions and the genes encoding immunoglobulin constant regions are isolated and inserted into an expression vector. The chimeric proteins are produced by introducing the expression vectors into insect cell lines. The chimeric proteins are purified using antibody affinity columns, and then chemically conjugated to an immunogenic carrier, keyhole-limpet hemocyanin (KLH).

Abstract: The present invention relates to methods for the separation of various components from eggs. More particularly, the present invention relates to methods for the separation of proteins and lipids from eggs, including technical eggs (inedible) or edible eggs, yolks or whites, which comprises cross-linking the lipids of eggs with a cross-linking reagent. In an embodiment, the method includes separating the proteins from the cross-linked lipids. In an embodiment, the method includes the separation of various components associated with the cross-linked lipids. The methods disclosed herein allow for the isolation of multiple different components from the egg in an efficient, cost-effective manner without compromising the recovery process of the components or their subsequent utility in various applications or compositions. The compositions and isolated components obtained by the methods of the invention can be used in pharmaceutical, medical, nutritional, cosmetic or health applications.

  • Patent number: 8128313
Abstract: A zero velocity bead dispenser is provided for a paint striping vehicle. The dispenser includes an electric motor which rotates a pair of rollers. A bead gun directs reflective particles into the nip point between the rollers, which discharge the particles or beads with a rearward velocity substantially matching the forward velocity of the vehicle. Therefore, the beads are discharged into the wet paint on the road with a net zero velocity so as to minimize or eliminate rolling of the beads in the paint, thereby maximizing the reflective properties of the beads. A speed sensor continuously monitors the vehicle speed and automatically adjusts the motor speed, and thus the roller speed, so as to maintain the relative zero velocity of the discharged beads.
