  • Patent number: 4035655
Abstract: Implantation of particles and especially ions is carried out by directing a particle beam onto a target and sweeping the beam in two directions at right angles. The target is subjected to a double movement of rotation about two axes which are substantially parallel to the direction of the particle beam. All the points of the target thus describe an epicycloid and are subjected to implantation by the particle beam.

  • Patent number: 4035707
Abstract: A reversible mechanical assembly is remote-controlled in displacements and in efforts by means of a device comprising a motion detector which delivers a pulse each time a driving shaft associated with a motor rotates by one step, the sign of the pulses being dependent on the direction of rotation of the motor. One input of a summing device is driven by the pulses delivered by the detector and the other input is driven by pulses delivered by an assembly for controlling the motor. The output signal of the summing device is fed back into the control assembly so as to constitute an effort return and also fed to the input of an amplifying circuit for controlling the torque produced by the motor.

  • Patent number: 4034586
Abstract: A thread rolling die and a method of thread rolling is disclosed for producing the annular rib on a threaded fastener suitable for retaining washers, clips or the like. The ends of the threads adjacent to such rib blend to the root diameter of the thread. The annular rib is produced by axially displacing workpiece material from the adjacent end of the thread. The die for rolling the thread is formed with thread forming grooves which extend to a base line spaced from the parallel to the lateral side of the die. At the base line the thread forming grooves fade to zero depth. Positioned between the base line and the lateral side of the die is a rib of increasing width which functions to displace material axially into the required rib.

  • Patent number: 4030888
Abstract: A fully automatic system is disclosed for determining the seven blood parameters, red blood counts (RBC), hematocrit (HCT), white blood counts (WBC), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH), mean corpuscular volume (MCV) and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC). The blood sample collected is divided into two solutions, one for use in red blood counts and subjected to the colorimetric analysis for HGB determination and the other for use in white cell counts. A portion of the RBC solution is subjected to the double blood dilution and it enters a red cell counting portion. The peak value of electrical pulses supplied by said counting portion is indicative of the hematocrit. These data are used by preset arithmetic circuits to determine MCH, MCV and MCHC. White blood corpuscles are counted by a counting means of the same structure as that of the red cell counting portion.

Abstract: A panel constructed cabinet for refrigerators, freezers or the like is disclosed along with a method of manufacture and an apparatus for manufacture. The cabinet includes an inner liner formed of panels of thermoplastic material having mating edge connections. The connections are formed by heating the plastic sheet along spaced and parallel lines adjacent to the edges thereof, to provide fold lines permitting the formation of channels proportioned to receive mating tongues from adjacent panels. Along some edges of the thermoplastic panels the channels are formed to extend laterally, with respect to the panel, and along other edges the channels are formed substantially parallel to the panels. The outer casing includes a combination of metallic panels along the sides and foil laminated panels along the top, back and bottom of the cabinet. Foamed insulation rigidifies the panels and provides the necessary insulation therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4027385
Abstract: A method of manufacturing sealed thermostats or the like is disclosed in which male and female members are assembled with an interference fit to produce a seal which is maintained through a predetermined operating temperature range. The minimum interference during assembly is selected so that such minimum interference is greater than the difference in the temperature during assembly and the most adverse seal temperature to be encountered within the temperature range, times the difference in coefficients of thermal expansion and contraction between the members times the linear dimension of the seal. In addition, the two members are selected so that the maximum total elastic deformation is greater than the difference in coefficient of thermal expansion and contraction times the difference between the maximum and minimum temperatures within the temperature range times the linear dimension.
