  • Patent number: 5033496
Abstract: An electro-pneumatic transducer converts an electrical input signal into a proportional (direct or indirect) pneumatic output signal. A circuit will sense the magnitude of the input signal, monitor the output fluid pressure and adjust a piezoelectric beam voltage until a desired output fluid pressure is achieved. The output fluid pressure is controlled by the deflection of a piezoelectric beam which is polarized and will deflect with an applied voltage. The output fluid pressure is monitored by a pressure sensor.

  • Patent number: 5000590
Abstract: An adjustable shaft mechanism for adjusting the gap between a print head and a platen in a dot matrix printer has a printer frame with two end frame members and a fixed guide member. An adjustable shaft runs substantially parallel to the guide member between the end frame members. A print head carriage runs along the guide and shaft members. A substantially vertical slot in each of the end frame members is employed to adjust the adjustable shaft for movement up and down with respect to the end frame members. Spring loading means biases the shaft toward the guide member. A cam on each end member is mounted for rotation for adjusting the shaft in the slots to raise and lower the print head carriage and the associated print head with respect to the platen.

  • Patent number: 4981417
Abstract: An impeller for pumps, turbines, fans, etc., of the closed type, having a number of vanes arranged between cover discs. In order to reduce the secondary flows within the impeller, the secants between the suction side of the vane and the cover discs are displaced with respect to the intersections at the pressure side of the vane. This impeller is rotationally non-symmetrical.

  • Patent number: 4972710
Abstract: A tank leak detection system in which a liquid level multiplier is connected to a differential pressure transmitter one side of which may be piped back into the tank to compensate for internal changes in tank pressure. A capillary having a small bore connects the transmitter and the multiplier to reduce temperature effects. Changes in tank temperature may be sensed, i.e., by a long bulb thermometer and either fed to a temperature transmitter to convert temperature change into a single to a computer used to calculate true tank level and output a signal proportional thereto or fed to the level transmitter to compensate for temperature changes.

  • Patent number: 4965409
Abstract: A cable (1) entering a submersible machine, such as an electrically driven pump, a turbine etc., is surrounded by a collar (3) of a rigid material, and the collar (3) is secured to the machine shell (2) by bolts (4). Two sockets (5) and (6) of an elastic material surround the cable (1), one of them mounted in the shell (2) and the other in the collar (3). A ring (8) of a rigid material is arranged between the two sockets (5) and (6). The collar (3), during mounting, is moved towards and into contact with the shell (2), thereby causing the sockets (5) and (6) to be compressed axially and expanded radially so that the cable (1) is secured and sealed.

  • Patent number: 4930041
Abstract: A potentiometer position switch circuit which includes a meter mechanism having a low friction potentiometer coupled to move therewith. The output of the low friction potentiometer is coupled together with the output of a set point potentiometer across the input terminals of a comparator. A magnetic latching double pole, double throw relay having set and reset relay coils is connected to the output of the comparator through the gate of a first voltage operated transistor and through sufficient resistance to minimize current drain and also through an invertor to the gate of a second voltage operated transistor and through a second resistor of sufficient resistance to minimize current drain. The output of the first voltage operated transistor is connected from a second voltage source through the set relay coil to ground and the output of the second voltage operated transistor is connected from a voltage source through said reset relay coil to ground.

  • Patent number: 4929875
Abstract: The invention concerns a method to control the stops of an intermittently operating electric motor. The motor current is measured at even intervals and a mean value is created from the measured values. An actual value is compared with said mean value and a signal is given to stop the motor if the actual value deviates from the mean value a predetermined amount. Each new measured value replaces the first measured value in the series.
