  • Patent number: 6189310
Abstract: A gas turbine power system for generating energy by means of a gas turbine cycle, wherein heat energy is more effectively used by burning the exhaust gases (109) and the partial oxidation of said exhaust gases (109) is achieved by means of a hypostoichiometric amount of air and steam fed into a catalytic reactor (107) to form a first oxidation stage followed downstream in said turbine (103) by additional oxidation occurring in a power turbine (104) or downstream therefrom, said power turbine being in turn arranged downstream from the catalytic reactor (107). Catalytic partial oxidation may be performed using a supply of an initiating agent, particularly hydrogen. The method is remarkable in that the hydrogen fed into the reactor inlet through an injector (113) is provided by recycling part of the effluent from the reactor, the power turbine or a reforming reactor for reforming part of the fuel gas with a large excess amount of steam for performing catalytic partial oxidation.

  • Patent number: 6112452
Abstract: An insect trap head that can be configured to contain one or two sets of threads to enable the invention to screw onto common household bottles with different opening diameters and different threading alignment and convert these bottles into an insect trap. The insect trap head has a cylindrical top section with an entry opening and a first set of threads being axially orientated to enable the top section to screw onto a bottle with an externally threaded neck. A conical insect entryway section is disposed in the entry opening of the top section. The insect entryway having an entryway skirt section gradually tapering as it projects downwards defining a bottom opening. A ring-shaped bottom section extends peripherally from the top section. The bottom section has a second set of threads that are axially orientated to enable the bottom section to screw onto an alternative bottle requiring a different orientation of threads than that of the first set of threads.

  • Patent number: 6102768
Abstract: An object, which can be used as an advertising item, promotional item, toy, or decorative figure, is segmented into at least two portions which are mounted in an aligned fashion on opposing sides of a surface so that the object appears to be extending through the surface. The object is provided in the shape of a commercial product to be advertised, or in the shape of a creature, such as animal or insect, or in the shape of holiday character, such as Santa Clause or a Halloween bat. The object is attached to the surface using suction cups which are mounted within the hollow interior of the object, so that when the object is mounted to the surface in an aligned fashion, the suction cups are not seen by viewer. The individual portions of the segmented object can be also be attached directly to each other to form a complete toy which can be played with in a traditional manner.

  • Patent number: 6060006
Abstract: A baluster or spindle is formed by a casting method, and has a rigid, dense, hollow outer shell forming a decoratively shaped body portion having closed, planar opposed ends. A conduit extends completely through the baluster, providing attachment means to a railing system. The hollow interior of the baluster is injected with a high density polyurethane foam to increase its weight, density, and resistance to breakage. The method of forming a baluster or spindle includes the combined method steps of placement of a mesh sheet adjacent each end of the mold, and then subsequent agitation of the mold. Agitation includes simultaneous spinning and rocking of the mold about its longitudinal axis. The mesh sheet retains the casting material against the end surfaces of the mold, and is completely encapsulated by the casting material such that the mesh sheet is not visible on the surface of the finished product.
