  • Patent number: 6690619
Abstract: An underwater communication device in combination with a chemiluminescent glow stick. The combination comprises a rigid housing having a seat structure for receiving a chemiluminescent glow stick on an outer face of the housing and a loop structure on a second outer face of the housing for attachment to another object. A projectile resides within the rigid housing such that movement of the housing will cause the projectile to move within the housing impacting an inner surface of the housing causing sound vibrations. A chemiluminescent glow stick is engaged with the seat structure, illumination of the glow stick providing means for visual underwater communication. A means for maintaining engagement of the glow stick with the seat structure of the rigid housing maintains the glow stick against the seat structure.

  • Patent number: 6684813
Abstract: The present invention provides a maintenance-efficient birdbath—fountain assembly essentially comprising an upper annular basin, a lower support reservoir, a fountain assembly, and a decorative cap. The basin comprises a central water dam and a sloped superior surface. The water dam comprises a plurality of water retainers and a plurality of water inlet grooves intermediate the water retainers, which together define a reservoir access aperture. The support reservoir supports the basin and receives excess water emptying from the basin via the water inlet grooves. The fountain assembly comprises a pump assembly and a float valve assembly for recirculating water and for maintaining a desired water level. The decorative cap caps the reservoir access aperture, which allows a user to manually access the fountain assembly or the reservoir without removing the basin from the reservoir thus providing the user with an efficiently maintained birdbath—fountain assembly.

  • Patent number: 6672495
Abstract: The present invention discloses a bifurcated carrier pack for electively transporting snowboard equipment either in a traditional, back-mounted position or in an unconventional, hip-mounted position. A snowboard may be removably attached to the bifurcated pack while in a back-mounted position for transportation and detachment ease. When the user elects to remove the snowboard from the pack, the bifurcated pack may be easily configured to a hip-mounted position to shift the user's center of gravity from a superior center of gravity to an inferior center of gravity for improving the downhill snowboarding experience. The bifurcated pack comprises a pair of storage compartments, two shoulder straps and an abdominal encircling belt. At the election of the user, the storage compartments may be pivoted about their lower half to achieve either a back-mounted configuration or a hip-mounted configuration. The shoulder straps secure the storage compartments in place while in either configuration.

  • Patent number: 6589521
Abstract: A composition of (Z)-11-tetradecenyl acetate and (Z)-11-tetradecenal in a weight ratio of about 50:50 to about 90:10 is a highly effective mating disruptant for the male Orange Tortrix and Omniverous Leafroller moths. In a preferred embodiment, the weight ratio of (Z)-11-tetradecenyl acetate and (Z)-11-tetradecenal is about 75:25. The composition demonstrates biological activity in the form of enhanced mating disruption efficacy that is greater than any discovery or development to date for the Orange Tortrix of the Omniverous Leafroller.

  • Patent number: 6567789
Abstract: A communication link is established between a first processor and a receiving processor located at a central data repository. Tax return information in electronic form are then downloaded to the central data repository. The electronic tax information is then converted into a new standard electronic document having a standard format. The new standard electronic document is then sent into a first database where it is sorted and stored with the other standard electronic documents. A first copy of the standard electronic document is then sent through a filtering process in which all the data fields containing identifiable data such as names, social security codes, identification numbers, and street address are removed creating an electronic data mining document. The electronic data mining document is then sent to a second database where the data mining document is sorted and stored with other electronic data mining documents.

  • Patent number: 6531788
Abstract: A submersible generating plant for producing electricity from ocean currents. The apparatus consists of two counter-rotating, rear-facing turbines with a plurality of rotor blades extending radially outward from two separate horizontal axis that convey the kinetic energy from the two side-by-side turbine rotors through separate gearboxes to separate generators that are housed in two watertight nacelles that are located sufficiently far apart to provide clearance for the turbine rotors. The two generators and their gearboxes serve as ballast and are located below a streamlined buoyancy tank that extends fore and aft above and between them. A leverage system having no moving parts adjusts lifting forces to balance changing downward vector forces that result from changes in drag acting on the downward angled anchor line.

  • Patent number: 6524265
Abstract: The improved longitudinal support structure is used in combination with a leg brace that provides support to a wearer's leg. The improved longitudinal support structure for longitudinally supporting the leg brace provides a pivot post attached to the outer lower portion of the leg brace. A support member extends from the outer lower portion of the leg brace. The support member has apertures through it to provide longitudinal adjustment and is rotatably connected to the pivot post through one of the apertures so that an end can rotate about the pivot post. A stop post limits the rotation of the support member to a predetermined range. A rigid cross member attached to the end of the support member positioned adjacent the wearer's ankle rests atop the wearer's foot and is shaped to accept the wearer's ankle. Means for securing the rigid cross member about the wearer's ankle is provided.
